That said, I'm not sure of the current status of the FP system for Autopia.

    Anyone...?

I remember the old fashioned cars at Knott's... My parents have OLD photos of me driving. Only been to Knott's once and that was in about 1962.

Do tell me more about the governor being turned off or up! Is there a way you can do that, out of site of the CM's?
I imagine it's inside the trunk areas of the cars?

Thanks for all the tips, guys.

That is correct. This ride (with the old fashioned cars) was apart from the Ghost Town area (as were quite a few attractions: Independence Hall, "Jungle Island," the little Knott's lake...) and it was called (drum roll, please) Henry's Auto Livery. They were cool because they were like larger Mr. Toad cars that you actually drove, and there was no middle strip. The only drag was the little loop was so short.

In Fiesta Village they had a midget Autopia style ride in which very small kids rode in cars but didn't drive - the cars were on busbars and drove themselves; kids just pretended to steer.

In the mid 70's they added an autopia-style ride complete with middle strip in the Roaring 20's Airfield section. So for a while they had all three styles going, but I think Henry's Auto Livery was gone by the late 70's.
