I don't think anyone really wanted to indulge the guy on those stupid bets. Most people were already sure of their self-worth and didn't feel the need to bolster it with some moronic wager.

You don't wager on things like this. It's important to all of us, and you don't get involved or interested based on an R or a D following someone's name, you get involved or are interested because you care about where you live and what happens to your country.

I see people who do things like that, and they are not patriots, nor do they care about anything other than some stupid one-upsmanship.

When you have people like that running around, you ruin what democracy is all about. It should be about people trying to do the right thing for the country.

It is not some imbecilic game.

WilliamK won the wager. He should be receiving passes for Disneyland Paris. Can't remember the terms, if it was annual passes or single day tix or what. So, the winnings will be spent in ... France. lol

I DID NOT want Beau to leave. He had a valid point of view that was well worth presenting.

All I wanted was for him to express it without constantly insulting the other side. Without the continual statements that those who disagreed with him were idiots that wanted to destroy America.

In a strange way I really liked Beau. I just got tired of the continued mindless insults and assaults.

Not that I (or any other liberal) had anything to do with his leaving. During his final days of rampage I think I reported him to Admin only once.

Beau is gone because he could not stay within the LP guidelines which were very leniently enforced in World Events. He is not gone because anyone wanted him gone (although I'm sure many did).

Actually, Boulder is surrounded by a wide "never build on it" green belt. Some say it keeps the hippies from venturing out :)

For the last 25 years the only thing I know about Boulder is what I've read. But when I was a kid my Mom's parents lived in Boulder and I spent just about every summer out there. God I loved the place.

While growing up I always said that I was going to move to Boulder when I was on my own. Then life got in the way and it never happened.

I was just about to go out there after my first marriage ended (I think I was 25 then) but then I met my current wife and she did not want to leave Minnesota.

All things considered, giving up Boulder was the right choice.

    ;-)

But I still really love that town.

Its changed. Other than Pearl St. it reminds me a lot of the less nice parts of Orange County. Personally I think Fort Collins is much nicer.

    Have you ever dragged Pearl??

My older cousin used to take me in her car over to Pearl Street on the weekends. This was in the mid-sixties, when cars had BIG FRICKING ENGINES.

Pearl was an in-town drag-strip and we would go up and down it all night dragging from one light to the next.

My cousin's car wasn't one of the coolest, but it was one of the fastest. A 1958 Oldsmobile with the Rocket V-8 engine. God that sucker was fast.

    We lost very few races.
