As I said in another post, their values just aren’t my values.

But we’ll be OK. Pawlenty was basically a very good governor and was considered a shoo-in for re-election until the recent massive dissatisfaction with Bush.

Having the election this close shows the message has been sent. Every other constitutional office (Attorney General, Secretary of State, etc.) went to Democrats.

Yes, I had qualms about the wording of the Amendment, but I felt that the possibility for cures was too important to overlook, so I did vote for it.

I'm also ecstatic that Jim Talent got sent home. I was already planning to vote for McCaskill, but with every single Talent radio & TV ad, my determination became greater because I have NEVER heard such horrible and hateful ads as those were.

Oh, he also denied doing anything illegal. Which I'm sure is as accurate as the rest of his comments.

Before I turned off Fox news last night, they had some Republican hack on with them. They talked about various automatic recount mechanisms, and then the host, Shep something or other, said "and then the lawyers, right? We'll see lawyers?" And the hack said "you better believe it. We'll in court on this one."

So no tea leaves, just the party itself saying so.

Which of course must remind every regular here of a certain someone. When Bush won in 2004, there were some who were horrible winners. Gloated until they made enemies, which was the downfall of the GOP this time around because that arm of the GOP is likely what swayed voters this time around. So thanks beau, the Dems couldn't have done it without you and your big, fat mouth.

But like I said before, the Dems didn't win so much as the GOP lost it. The Dems have to show they deserve this, because 2008 will be here before you know it.

Thanks for the explanation. I should note, however, that "some Republican hack" and "Shep something or other" are not yet spokesmen for the GOP. But I will keep an open mind.

And if the hack from the Republican party, who was a guest and identified as being from the GOP on Fox News, doesn't speak for them, who does, pray tell?

I woke up this morning and just like everyone else here heard the news. Personally this isn't much of a surprise. I also honestly believe that the outcome of this election is the best possible outcome for this country. The Republicans have had 12 years to make a change. And although I don't blame the individual Republican Reps and Senators, by large they have been ineffective in the outcome national policy. We elect Reps and Senators because we want them to be effective. For whatever reason either the President didn't listen to them ( which I believe is the case ). Or the President just refusd to take the Reps and Senators concerns seriously. National domestic policy has been a disaster. I'm sure many Americans have found this Administrations policys confusing to say the least. How can you justify fighting a war on foreign soil but doing nothing to protect our nations borders? How can you say your tough on crime but anxious to grant amnesty to 20 million criminals.

The Republicans worked hard to loose this election. It was their loss they own it.

My only regret is that there were not more third party candidates on this years ballot. We would be refreshing to see some REAL change in Washington DC. Rather than more of the same Dem/Rep fighting going on.

With no coyness, I really want to know WHO was speaking. If it was a party spokesman, fine. If it was a consultant, it means nothing. If it was a pollster or commentator, it means even less.

But here, I'll give this to the thread since the Usual Bot is not yet up and around:
    <a href="http://www.drudgereport.com/" target="_blank">http://www.drudgereport.com/</a>

While the head reads "VA SENATE...
    MT SENATE...
Lawyers Dispatched... ," The linked article doesn't mention any lawyers, but then Mr. Drudge may just be engaging in wishful thinking.

I agree with everything you said in your second paragraph.

TS, I think its more than just that. I think more importantly the Republicans got greedy. What was with all thise spending bills? Bridges to no where? President Bush never got out his VETO pen till a bill about Federal funding for Stem Cell research appeared upon his desk.

Here is a classic example of Nero fiddling while Rome burned.

Since 1994 when the Republicans took control of the House and Senate an estimated 20 million criminals were allowed to enter and remain in this country unchecked and for the most part unimpeded.

Here's a phrase no one ever heard before 1994, "for english press 1".

I can't picture Mr. Hannity actually crying.

I predict that by the end of the day there will be any amount of analysis basically stating that this election really wasn't all that unusual, historic, or important. Various midterm elections will be cited, individual races will be spotlighted, and numbers will be painfully tortured. But, in the end, no matter how thin they slice it, the Republicans lost Congress in 2006. The end.
