They don't really care for the original anyway, they like the Haunted Mansion Holiday, much less creepy. But, alas, my husband can not take off time in October, Nov or Dec anymore, so no holiday trip for us. If these changes really happen, my kids may be skipping HM this trip. Too bad Pirates will be down

With kids nowadays (wow, I sound old !) it takes much more to scare them. They are constantly exposed to blood and gore via the media in ways that I wasn't as a child. It takes a lot to scare them just a little, so the changes mentioned would not be too gory. Maybe even not scary enough, but then again, we are talking about DL.

HM was entirely different. If I could overlay my eight-year-old psyche over my gut reaction to the proposed changes, I think I would have loved them. I'd sure be talking it up at school, that's for sure!

The real story Disney was going to use was a bride marries a sea captain but finds out he's a pirate. When he finds out she knows, he kills her. But after Walt died they dropped the story line. All this master Gracy foolishness was made up by fans with way to much time on their hands. To get the history on HM go to doombuggies.com For those who say murder should not be the base for a story line you need to ride Phantom manor. The whole thing is based on the murder of the groom which we get to see.
