Don't forget that if you have an American Expresss card Gold or higher, you can get first bag checked for free on Delta (up to 8 people I believe) by showing the card. (Even if you have to pay the yearly cost for the card, it's still a savings & AE usually has deals where first year cost is waived)

It's good for us as we fly Delta anyway & get double points for using our AE card to buy Delta tickets. Then we get Delta miles on our Skymiles account for actually flying Delta.

I know that there were other AE accounts that had to be paid (no carryover) as soon as bill came in & ours could carry a balance. But since we pay off when bill comes in anyway, it didn't matter. As long as it's a Gold card or above, you can see what works best for you.

Plus, as long as you pay the credit card bill when it comes in - you never have to worry about your credit.

I tend to save for our WDW vacations. Since we usually bought APs, I could get room only discounts, so saved money. If I needed another AP (going to expire), I bought the vouchers, so that I could still get the discounts - AP had to be activated when I arrived, but that was easy. I'd set aside the money as I saved it & before we went - paid for the room with AE & then paid that money on the bill, even if the amount didn't show yet, as I knew the credit would cover for when the charge came through.

I never owed for the hotel or our tickets when we arrived. And had the cash for our meals & other stuff. If we charged a meal while we were there, for whatever reason, we just took out the cash & set it aside, then came home & had the money to pay off the card. Don't you just hate coming home to vacation bills?
