There are lots of Frozen-branded snacks and stuff in the stores, and we heard Let It Go all over the place (usually in Japanese). The film's popularity didn't seem to quite match the same level of madness as it's had in the US where people will do anything for Frozen, but it's quite popular

That said - the backstory bibles went out the window a few years ago. There aren't the same rules about where characters reside any more. Hence you do get some strange ones - like Malin mentioned with the Incredibles in Port Discovery - not one I like at all.

The Japanese - particularly kids and office ladies just can't get enough of it. There are stampedes when Disney Stores bring in new merch. Frozen is monumentally popular. TDL Ops is very worried about how they will deal with the special event merch in January. To date OLC has brought very little into the parks to deliberately avoid guest control issues. It will be worse than when TDS released the last Gelatoni outfit. Way way worse.

That's more than can be said about the Norway pavilion at Epcot, despite a very different park mission. I'm also surprised it will be about the same size as the Arabian Coast, since I didn't think there was that much room over there From the concept art, it looks like this area may span the waterway. I guess that means that it will take over the area currently occupied by the Hangar Stage. That area is fairly nondescript at the moment, so it wouldn't be too hard to change the theme, though the quick transitions to Port Discovery and Lost River Delta could be interesting. I know Mystic Rhythms was set to (already has?) close and be replaced by another show, so this could be what's taking its place It's also promising that both projects will include "multiple major attractions". I know their definition of "major" may be different than mine, but it sounds like more than just a meet & greet or relocated it's a small world

The castle looks much bigger than the one at MK. The Alice area definitely is big enough for an E-ticket show building once iasw is moved as planned. The Scandinavian port looks amazing too, although I hope they can pull off the forced perspective of the mountains and the ice castle well. They really flubbed it when designing Beast's Castle at MK. I think they will extend the port to the current transition zone for Port Discovery > Lost River Delta, but the Hangar Stage is remaining as it is. The new show has already been announced, and it appears that it is still part of Lost River Delta.

TDS has a history of making forced perspective mountains look pretty darn good, regardless of what's surrounding it It is interesting that the castle appears to be so much larger in the concept art. It looks like they may have learned their lesson from trying to push the forced perspective a little too much in WDW (though I don't think it looks as bad in person as it does in photos). The layout/entrance of the building looks very similar to BOG in MK, which makes me think it may be copied to TDL, but it seems like a somewhat odd choice right next to the also hyper-themed Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall >>The new show has already been announced, and it appears that it is still part of Lost River Delta.<< That makes sense that they would keep the theme then. On the other hand, they could run the new show for a couple years and then replace it with something that fits with Frozen. TDR tends to cycle through its entertainment fairly regularly (Mystic Rhythms being an exception), so it wouldn't be completely out of line. And given the popularity of the sing-along shows in the US, I have to think that something similar could also be quite popular in Japan, where they invented karaoke...

I don't think it would directly compete with Queen of Hearts, which is much more casual. Their first press release had a piece of art showing a restaurant overlooking a parade route that was supposedly replacing Tomorrowland Terrace. Not sure if they really need all that dining- would rather they use the space for a ride. <<And given the popularity of the sing-along shows in the US, I have to think that something similar could also be quite popular in Japan, where they invented karaoke...>> For selfish reasons, I hope they do not replace a high quality production for a basic sing-along. Saw it once at DCA and have zero desire to ever see it again. Now a Frozen-themed musical I would happily accept.

I have no doubt that TDR would take the concept and make it impressive And it's interesting that the reviews of the DCA show are so lackluster, while the WDW show is very well regarded. I saw the WDW show in January and was dreading the experience, but was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was and how great the performers were. Typically when a show relies on finding high-quality talent, DLR does better because of the huge soCal talent pool, but WDW seems to have really succeeded here

I'm starting to think that this will be more like DL's 1983 Fantasyland project than the 2013 MK project I'll also be curious to see how they handle the backside of the Scandinavian mountain, since it will face backstage areas but will be plainly visible from the Monorail and Good Neighbor hotels. The visibility of Everest's backside caused some issues when it first opened, but people seem to be okay with how the backside of the Cadillac Range was done
