If the Tomorrowland experience is about children riding things are only "futuristic" to them .... then how about that "Bar of the Future" where kids can sample that alcohol that can only be in their future at age 21?! ;)

That's not the point .. or the theme of Tomorrowland.

The Santa Ana freeway ... opened in 1954. A whole year before the park opened!

And here comes the Autopia on July 17,1955.

Tomorrowland was doomed to a "Today"-land the minute it opened! ;)

Also, most of the other cars attractions at other parks don't allow you to power and steer (kind of) the cars. Autopia does.

With my kids, Autopia is in my top 10. I can skip Indy happily, but not Autopia, especially at DL. When traveling without kids, then yes, it doesn't even register.

But it is a great family ride with lovely scenery.

That's part of the problem, it's NOT a "little" attraction. It actually takes up a fair chunk of real estate for what is basically lame electric cars. People I show video to of the parks are always kinda shocked also when they see the guide rail the cars travel on. Makes the experience doubly lame because it is even more kiddified.

    I don't get it.

Put in a proper attraction of Indy(or higher)calibre.

Oh and good call on Carsland. Here's to hoping this mega E dooms PlaySchool Carsland to the bulldozers and something(or two or three somethings)worthy of that much land.

Disneyland is not a museum, yadda, yadda yadda. I get what you mean though. For being a purist I get that thrown back at me a lot.

My issue is that if something is going to be replaced, an equivalent experience must be added in its place. My argument is that over the years, classic attractions were lost and what's replaced them hasn't been that great.

If they could add that to Disneyland's version and plus up the scenery in a similar fashion to HKDL's autotopia (have you seen footage of it at nighttime on Youtube, it looks really good) then I think this attraction wouldn't be such a waste of valuable real estate.

But if Disney wants to "plus" it with some of the things described in the post above, then I won't object.

It wouldn't be too hard to find something better that could replace the Autopia.

I remember as a boy, autopia was Disneyland, more than PotC, HM or Matterhorn.
