NBC's "live" coverage doesn't seem very live to me.

So China's 14 hours ahead of Salt Lake (IIRC). That would make it shortly after noon there. I wonder if you know what I have for lunch tomorrow. Or if I call out sick to work Can you guys find out and let me know? (If I get hit by a bus tomorrow, keep that to yourself though.)

But NBC's "surveys" told them that those of us that live in Mountain don't want to see things at 6 PM, we want things to start at 7 PM, so we get an hour delay. The west-coasters don't want to see things at 5PM, so they get held too.

YAY PHELPS - what an amazing achievement!

There WERE some live events on the east coast here, so the suspense was there for those, (including most of the Phelps wins) and that was great. But if you don't see the little "live" super, you can just about call it... Even if you haven't read the advance results (and I never do), you can just about predict that if it's shown at a showcase time and not live, the US is going to win. I've taken to checking out the sister stations and finding events where Americans aren't competing. These also tend to be the sports Americans are less familiar with and some of them really are eye-popping.
