Not to get too off topic, but I really agree with this. The pilot of Once Upon a Time set up a lot of interesting plot points that need to be resolved, but it will be interesting to see how quickly they are addressed. Some are much more long-term things, while others will need to be solved soon. I think that what happens next week (and the creators said that there will be several new characters in the next few episodes) will really set the course for the series.

Sadly, Pan Am didn't do so well in that department. It had a lot of potential to be a great show, and it's turning out to be just okay. As my mom described it, it's like The Love Boat, but on an airplane. Some parts are great (pretty much anything with Collette), some are okay (most of it), and some are just plain lousy (the Maggie/JFK storyline in Berlin). It's just a little disappointing for a show with so much hype around it. Hopefully Once Upon a Time will break that mold.

I thought they looked like refugees from "Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer". I half expected them to break out in a chorus of "We are Santa's Elves"

Did anyone else notice that the only time Snow White's hair didn't look like a rats' nest was when she was in hard labor?

I think we all know how that REALLY would have turned out if the writers of this new series had their heads on straight. There's no conquering the Mistress of all Evil--unless you happen to be 3 good fairies with a handsome hunk of a Prince Phillip on your side.

ORWEN: They're really trying hard to re-write fairy tale history. I just hope they get around to re-writing The Black Cauldon's history--so we can finally have the chance to over-power the Horned King.

ORGOCH: Thought we did that already! He got hisself all sucked up inside the cauldron!

ORDDU: Yes, until somebody went and released him again. How else do you explain his constant stalking and tortuing of us?

    ORGOCH: Yeah, right!

ORWEN: Getting back to this new series, I was surprised they made their version of Maleficent a blond. But I did notice the crown she wore looked like the same horns Disney animators had drawn for her.

ORDDU: I like the way Emma took a chain saw to the mayor's apple tree. A brilliant piece of plot line.

ORGOCH: So how many more episodes we got left? Anybody know?

Is anyone else catching Grimm? A *very* different take on fairy tales in the modern world. So far I prefer OUaT, but it's much too early in either series' run to be really sure about them. I want to love them both, we'll see if they live up to my hopes or disappoint over the next couple of months.

I'm with the Witches on the EQ vs Maleficent showdown. M would've mopped the floor with her! (literally! Woulda turned her into a mop & cleaned house!) And what's up with making Rumplestiltskin even more powerful? Puh-lease.

Witches, I noticed a horned "gentleman" standing around the fire-pit with the other baddies. I wondered if it was your ex-boss...

That WAS the Horned King. He's been taking on extra jobs, lately, times being what they are. He had to dismiss most of his slaves--not because he couldn't afford to pay them--but because he ran out of food to feed them!!

ORWEN: He also needs to buy a new robe for Halloween and when his agent called to tell him about how the producers of Once Upon a Time needed to hire some 'extras' for one of their episodes he jumped through hoops for the chance to be on TV.

ORGOCH: Yeah, now he's hopin' ta be a reg'lar on the dang show! We'll see...

Does anybody have any guesses who the sherriff is supposed to be? My initial thought was the Sherriff of Nottingham, but he's actually a decent guy, so probably not. Maybe Robin Hood, but I'm not sure if that story really fits the genre very well. It's more of a folk tale than a fairy tale.

And did they ever fully explain what needs to happen to break the curse? I know that it requires the 'saved' person (AKA Emma) to come back and do something, but what exactly would that be (other than just sorting out who's who)?

And I think I need to do some research on Rumplestiltskin. I thought that he was just sort of annoying and tricky in the story, not all-powerful. It's good to have someone with more power than the queen, but it just seems awkward. I think I only ever read that story once, and it was many years ago, so maybe there's more to it than what I remember.

This is definitely turning into a show where every time I see it, I want to see more!

I've been thinking along the same lines. It doesn't really fit. Maybe he's the woodsman that saves Red Riding Hood from the BBWolf? Then again, maybe he's Pinnochio. Seems like somebody's always pulling his strings...
I was also a little iffy on the Jimminy Cricket as lying psychiatrist bit. Doesn't say much about his conscience.

The writers should be more consistant about such details--unless they're trying to make some sort of statement, such as becoming human makes you forget your morals.

ORWEN: Yeah, I agree. At least Snow White seems to still be a good person in her new life. She didn't turn bad just because she forgot who she was. Why can't it be that way for all the other fairy tale characters?

Then again, I'm not sure 101 fits the fairy tale idea very well (and we did see Jimminy in the fairy tale world, so he'll show up eventually).

And another random question: if time stands still and nobody ages in Storybrooke, how did Henry get to be 10 years old? Or is it just people who are under the spell who don't age?
