I've never seen Dynasty (it was way before my time), so I can't really comment there. >>Has anyone else considered the notion that the wolf isn't actually a wolf at all?<< Perhaps a sheep in wolf's clothing (to play with the theme in the episode)? I'm not sure what it is, but there is definitely a lot to it. If you remember back to the pilot, shortly before driving off the road and crashing, Emma saw a wolf crossing the street right in front of her car (presumably the same one, since there aren't supposed to be any in Storybrooke). I don't know what character it would be (Big Bad Wolf and Peter's Wolf seem too obvious/not related; there are other Red Ridinghood characters, so that's a possibility), but it definitely appears to have a fee will and its own motivation. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. And for what it's worth, ABC currently has all of the episodes online 'for a limited time' if anybody wants to catch up on one you missed, get some details, or get a friend started on the series from the beginning.

She's a totally different character who just happens to be named Snow White. The original Snow White wasn't a thief and the original plot to have her killed had nothing to do with any secret she told about the wicked queen. While it's also true that the writers have managed to create something interesting as a result, I think they should have just left the fairy tales alone and come up with their own, original stories without trying to attach them to existing classics. But, then, perhaps they were too insecure over the idea of simply being totally original.

(he's such a good actor, but the man keeps getting these crappy, throwaway, guest spots) Overall, I'm really liking this show a whole heckofalot more than I expected (or wanted!) to.

Nothing was changing until Emma entered the scene right? So Ashley had been heavily pregnant for 28 years but as time continues to reset/ replay as their memories have all been muddled, nobody notices that she has been permanently like this.. But suddenly Emma starts the clock ticking again so she goes into labour, delivers Alexandra etc.. Which brings us to Hansel and Gretl.. Realistically they've just flown under the radar living alone.. Because nobody remembers their past or time properly, the assumption from teachers etc would be parents enrolled them at school, and that they must have parents. Eg Mary Margaret says the teaching staff had no idea which makes little sense in our world, but give. The curse they are under, it actually makes sense. The main thing bothering me is that Henry must be the only child who ages? As he isn't part of the curse and we know he only arrived in town ten years ago.. This to me explains why he has no friends in town and is so convinced about the whole curse/ fairy tale life thing.. He realizes that he is the only one who ever changes.. No wonder he is in therapy! I hope it's something that touch on soon.. As for the new guy.. He may be Henry's dad? I doubt his a fairytale character or he'd have been there all along? I think he is just further proof of how things in Storybrook are changing.. Like they once had no visitors then Emma arrived and now others can too.. Very interested to see what comes next.. Honestly hoping we see only fairy tale characters and no Greek myths.. I was a little thrown when King Mida showed up in that episode and also, not loving how Disneyfied the tales are.. I truly love Disney of course but I also love the rich history of fairy tales.. I had little girls I babysit reject a picture book of Cinderella because it wasn't the Disney one and that bothers me. whilst the Disney toons are great, they are just one interpretation of the classic tales often with alternate endings and additional characters/subplots.. But it was good to see Hansel and Gretl as it's one of the rare fairy tales to be both well known and non- Disneyfied.. Much like Rumpelstiltsken who is by far my favourite character..
Originally Posted By skinnerbox <<At first there seemed to be a few plot holes that were bugging me but the more I think it through, the more it sort of makes sense within the show..>> Some plot holes are becoming more glaring, IMO, and are truly starting to bug me with each new episode. EmmaJayne pointed out a few, like Henry being the only kid who's aging, or how everyone has been in Storybrooke for 28 years and is blissfully unaware that their lives don't change, or that they cannot leave, or how nobody comes to town, until now. It doesn't make any sense that folks wouldn't wonder about this stuff, watching the mayor's son grow up while the other kids don't. But the biggest plot hole for me involves the mayor/evil queen. She's outside of these magical mechanisms within Storybrooke, because it's her spell. BUT... she's *in* Storybrooke, not back in Fairy Tale. She seems to be trapped there against her will. Why else would she want to stay? Power brokers rarely banish their enemies to 'the void' and go along for the ride. That's the point of banishment. But she's there with them? Why? Did the spell backfire? Does that mean Mr Gold or someone else we haven't been introduced to yet has even greater power than the mayor/evil queen? If that's the case, then I'd like for this plot development to appear soon. I'd starting to get a bit bored with the show and the 'detours' we're taking with characters like Hansel and Gretel whom I doubt we'll ever see again.
