I always let the DL or WDW restaurant know before my time if my plans change so they can free up my time, but this new policy is NOT okay.

At a real restaurant, I could call and someone would answer the phone and I could cancel.

Not DL or WDW. You have to be on forever hold.

That might be okay if I could do it online, but their reservation page, which their blog says is where you would also cancel, has no where to cancel and my dining reservation is nowhere on line - says it can't connect me with any reservations.

I am NOT going to sit on the phone forever (almost 30 minutes last time) to cancel a breakfast on my first day in just because Disney is too cheat to properly staff their phone lines.

By the way, at a real restaurant, they have a table waiting for me if I have a reservation, but again, not DL or WDW. It's like I have a reservation to get on a list!

They had at least better get their system working before they try this charging nonsense on their non-reservations.

Most of the times I've called Disney Dining, I've spoken to a real person right away after going through the initial recorded questions (which you then have to repeat to the person you're talking to). Or you could just go online to change/cancel the reservation, with minimal waiting (because their user interface is awful it will be slow, but it may still be quicker than calling).

I also read a comment on the Disney Food Blog suggesting that you needed to cancel a reservation the same day, you could try changing the reservation to another day (same reservation technically), and then call back later and cancel that one in advance.

I also kind of wonder if this will change the policy of how you're charged for a partial no-show. Currently, if someone from your reservation shows up, you're fine even if the entire group doesn't make it. I wonder if going forward, they might charge for each individual who doesn't eat there.

While I understand the implications of no-shows for staffing purposes, they also allow walk-up guests to have a chance, which is incredibly rare at the moment. It seems like this policy is only going to make that worse
