It's a walk-through attraction, with some cool effects. You go through these greek ruins and then the god Poseidon curses you or something. There's also a nice Jurasic Park walkthrough area. And some well themed shops and restaurants. And a couple of shows. We liked the Sinbad show.

<If the Cat in the Hat dark ride does not spin you, drop you or get you wet she would probably go on it.>

It does spin a little, but Roger Rabbit kind of spin, not Mission Space kind of spin. They did just open another ride in Suess Landing that seems pretty tame.

IOA is not as well themed as a Disney park, but it's close.

In traditional theme parks, no. In many areas that I value more...

However, someone told me after our visit that when he went with his very pregnant wife, they were asked if they would like the spinning to be turned off on their car for them, which they did. I;m not sure if they still do this, but you may want to ask an attendant to see if they could do this if your wife doesn't like spinning if you ever choose to visit IOA.

To be blunt, she hated Islands of Adventure. We did Posidon and the Jurassic Park walk-through, and that was really about it. The precentage of less intense things to do at IOA is extremely small compared to the Disney parks. Even neighboring Universal Studios seems to have a more shows and a few more gentler attractions.

I'm sure IOA is great for those who mainly go to theme parks for the thrills, but it's not for everyone.
