    IMO it was the release of Norbit that did him in. It came out while the voting was going on and I think it was too much of a stretch to say Eddie Murphy is finally learning how to be a good actor when this junk is in theaters. I thought Alan Arkin deserved it more anyway.

    I liked it better the way they did it. If they had done it more like a "tribute" segment, I would have expected much more, and probably been disappointed that "that's all" there was. But the way they did it, when the lights came up behind the scrim you knew they were gonna roll in and do some sort of symbol, but the fun was not knowing what they were gonna do each time, and seeing it come together. Kind of like a "leave them wanting more" thing...just enough to whet your appetite for their art.<

    I liked the troupe, thought they were the only "theatrical" aspect of the show that worked. But they should have kept the title of the movie until they formed the pose. Kind of gave it away.

    As for Eddie Murphy, I think in addition to "Norbit", wether or not that affected his chances, another incident of bad timing was the DVD release of "Eddie Murphy: Raw", which just reminded everyone what a homophobic, misogynistic, racist jerk he is.
