My own employer, which was founded in a famous garage in Silicon Valley, is on the record as being a "Global, not American" corporation. Ralph Nader sent a letter to the boards of the Fortune 500, asking them to open their shareholder meetings with a recitation of the pledge of allegiance. Only a handful agreed to do so. >>as long as global doesn't become the definition my company has -- a place for cheap white collar labor to replace American workers....under the guise of globalization. << A scary thought! Disney could bring in foreign CMs using the L-1 visa program (which I understand has no caps like the H1-B program). Anyway, I would guess that Disney is also busy offshoring a lot of back office work to the 3rd world. I expect that anything that isn't customer facing will eventually be offshored.

I can think of all sorts of things that could be offshored. For example, who's to say that the people monitoring all of the in-park security cameras aren't half way around the world? Bandwidth is cheap these days, and real-time video feeds could easily be sent elsewhere.

Why do I care if people think we're "Ugly Americans?" You have to consider the source. It's like this whole crappy PC movement...people can dish it out, but they can't take it. I don't care what other countries think about us, becuase when they're country is under attack financially or militarily, they all come crying to us to save their necks, then they talk smack about us when they are safe again. I'm proud to be an Ugly American...it's beats being a stiff necked European any day of the week.

Ticking people off for the sake of ticking people off leads to more unrest in this world, no matter how minor. Maybe I'm strange, but I don't to upset or offend people unless its necessary. I don't try to tick people off just because I can. You need to remember that wherever you travel, you're a representative of your country. Your actions might affect the treatment of someone else down the line. WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?

There have always been foreign tourists so it seemed natural that instructions be given in different languages. I just don't see the big deal. It's kind of like being a host - you try to accomodate and be welcoming to your guests. Aye yi yi.

I just hate it when they feel (not all of them are like this) that we need to to go out of our way for them when they treat us like poo poo. I have no issue with Spanish directions. It gets annoying, but I understand taht there are a ton of spanish spaeking guests at WDW. I just don't understand why they put their language first when the majority of your guests are from the USA.

The thing that really bothered me about it was when the first announcement was done, a LOT of Mexican/Spanish speaking people started cheering cause they were first. I was not the only American aroudn to say WTF?
