I don't go to very many concerts any more when I used to go as often as I could. I'd now rather spend my money on other things.

We did, to see Paul McCartney year before last. I don't regret any of it, great show.

    What an absurd price!
I'll listen to a CD ... good enough for me!

The biggest entertainment ticket I have ever bought was $209 for a DL/DCA AP!! Out of the year, I used about maybe 14 days of the pass since I was only in L.A. for a few months...and it was the best $209 I spent on anything :).

Now, just looking at what people pay for concerts for one night back in the states, I will gladly pay for a AP Premium next time even if I'm only there a few months again ;D.

Heck, some people think anything more than $15 is too much to spend on dinner, which is fine. I don't happen to feel that way. On the other hand, while I'm willing to spend what I have on Genesis, I recognize that other people think it's too much. That's fine - that's why they're not going. On the other hand, I wouldn't spend what I've spent on someone like Paul McCartney because he doesn't mean anything to me. On the other hand, other people have paid *WAY* more to see him than I've spent per ticket on Genesis. But if it's worth it to them, I don't see what the issue is.

I recall reading that musicians and bands rely a lot more on concert income than they used to in the past. I know my kids friends trade ripped MP3's with each other (I wonder if any of them has actually bought a CD or MP3 lately).

We have a smallish (but new arena) in our town. It seats 5000 and it seems like there is someone or something going on there every week. From what I have heard concerts never sell out, unlike the local minor league hockey team, which is very popular (and cheap: $18 a seat). I was tempted to go see David Bowie, but it slipped my mind and I missed it.

Now, when Peter Gabriel joins them, hopefully, to play The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway(this was their initial reunion plan, but PG opted out, for now), in the next year or so, I'll probably follow them around like a groupie.
Yes, I realize no one cares.

The guy in spot 20 offers to buy my ticket if I buy him 2 (I was only buying 2 and there was a 4 ticket limit) so of course I agreed. Those seats were like $175!!! Glad one of them was free!!

Then today I paid $90 for a General Admission ticket to see Justin Timberlake. As I have never been in a GA section, and am probably too old to stand for that long, this should be interesting....
