(this is a HUGE argument which one could go round and round in circles debating, but the final fact is, we DID destroy entire cities, entire populations (in Europe I mean), hundreds of thousands of kids and elderly, AND a couple of nukes. Hindsight is usually perfect, but in spite of all of it, can anyone tell me what would have worked, absolutely, other than what was done? Does anyone know what the answer was, not just..gee, I don't like that. Your Grandfather might also have told you that war is not a pleasant thing to experience. It's not a game-boy game, it is real and it is ugly. We have made a lot of mistakes but our participation and influence in the outcome of WWII is not one of them. I truly believe that.

    >>>Since then, we've done some other bad stuff.<<<

    No argument there.

    Wrong.

Russia is not on trial here!

Funny thing, though ... It DOES always act in a total self-involved mode when Republicans are in charge.

    >>Some of you blah blah blah anti-American blah blah blah actual history books blah.<<

There are good history books, and there are Sarah Palin history books.

Based on WWII neither should this country be on trial for something that happened almost 70 years ago. Something that I would guess, none of us were here to witness, and therefore it renders our critiques worthless. We have no way of knowing. Let's stick with events that we have been here to see.

Also remember that both sides of any war consider themselves to be right otherwise they would not have been willing to lay their lives on the line. Therefore, history written by either side will be slanted toward their side. At the time, according to reports, most of the world was pretty sure we did the right thing...I will go with that.
