Dave with all you do I just cannot begin to imaging HOW you keep everything going. I hope things get better and better and that you are able to continue to be so incredibly effective at all the many things you do on a daily basis. I think you are one hell of a great guy and I envy so many things about you. Thanks Dave for being gracious.

I don't always - you have seen my picture right? I am afraid I do not always take the best care of myself. But I try to do what I can. Sadly, it is so hard to keep everyone happy. and occassionally lately, I try to chill out and stop for a bit. It helps maintain some sanity.

He'll be fine! He'll get to see a part of the world without mom or dad around. Yet, he'll be properly minded by the school people.

Avoid trying to pop over at lunch. He'll be having a grand old time with his school friends. But if you must, we understand. :)

Of course, no matter what you do, you'll be by the phone and every sound you hear will be somehow related to your son...you can relax when he's back home.

Andrew was a wonderer and I thought for sure he was going to get left behind. I was a wreck the whole day. He came home and I hugged him so hard he pulled away,he was so full of life and told me everything about his day. I looked at him with teary eyes because I almost took that experience away from him just because of me not wanting him to grow up.

I have been on every other field trip since that time, I tell his teachers that I will be there even if I have to drive myself and just show up (I cant even take my own advice LOL)

He totalled his truck in Dec. and I gave him my full size to drive now. Now he wants a motorcycle. I told him not while he lives in our house. I just sold mine and he gave me that look of dis-belief but I want him home 'SAFE'. It's selfish I guess but at least thats one less thing to worry about. Best to You and I hope lil Mikey has a Blast.. :')

<<Both sets of grand parents think we are crazy.>> Why? Because you're letting him go or because they think you're being overprotective?

On the other hand, I have been taking Kindergarteners on field trips for over ten years at my current school. I have never lost a child or had anything other than a scraped knee or two. I want to share with you the excitement in the children's eyes when they venture into their own new and exciting universe of their very own! It is such an important step in their growth and development to explore new and exciting things!

Trust me, if there is a worry that a child will wander - I become their partner or if there is a behavior issue I personally ask the parent to join us. Take it as a compliment that you aren't needed!

I can't wait to hear all about his trip!

I insisted on going on PBs first field trip because it was only her and I at home and I was petrified. What a mistake. The kids made fun of her cause she had Mommy looking after her. She didn't care though cause she's tough. And a few of her friends were glad that I was there. But, I never volunteered again.

When Mikey comes home and starts sounding off about what they saw and what they did, you'll know he missed you because he'll say "Dad, guess what I saw! Will you come and see it with me another time?"

You'll love his excitement and independence.

Going along on fieldtrips can be a blast but do it sometime to join the fun and not just to keep an eye on your little one.
All will be well I am sure.

I should be picking him up at 3.30 usual home time unless traffic holds them up.

I will get him to do a trip report with his Dad on the weekend.

(his little girlfriend had to be carried off the coach as she was sleeping) however I am informed by his teacher he slept almost all the way home.

Needless to say he is now running around playing in the grden with Jess so I am pretty sure he got some rest lol.
