Thank you for all the words of encouragement. It was hard, and I have been worried all day. Mikey loved it and wants to go back (he thinks where daddy works is cool - even though I don't think he get's that I work in London, not the British Museum).

That is a wonderful story and I am glad it has a happy ending. We have all heard urban ledgends on that vein for many years about Disney parks as well.

BUT..."kudo's to Sears" I would not be doing them justice if I did not make fast mention of Adam Walsh. yeah, Sears has been trying to live this story down for DECADES.

    Just Goggle Adam Walsh.

    It will make you think.

You know, John Walsh, Americas Most Wanted TV Show? Ever wonder why HE is the guy on that show? And the show is minor in what John Walsh has done to get laws passed and our legal system revamped concerning missing children. The man is an icon. You cannot be too protective of your little ones.

Go on, google it. It's worth any parent's time.

    Oh, TINK-MOBILE. How utterly awful.

Yes, John Walsh is a hero. That poor man has been through so much...and look what's he's done with his pain.

And how about this? It's bad enough we have child predators, but what happens when the law goes overboard to protect them?

"A Massachusetts politician and defense attorney has touched off a firestorm with his shocking public vow to torment and "rip apart" child rape victims who take the witness stand if the state legislature passed stiff mandatory sentences for child sex offenders.

Rep. James Fagan, a Democrat, made the comments during debate last month on the state House floor.

"I'm gonna rip them apart," Fagan said of young victims during his testimony on the bill. "I'm going to make sure that the rest of their life is ruined, that when they’re 8 years old, they throw up; when they’re 12 years old, they won’t sleep; when they’re 19 years old, they’ll have nightmares and they’ll never have a relationship with anybody.â€

davewasbaloo, we can never be too protective, huh? Look at Elizabeth Smart. A teen taken from her own bedroom.

Wow, sorry to be such a downer. It's just that I work for a police department and we just had a serial child rapist case solved a few months ago (made national headlines) and I just wish these monsters weren't out there. :(

But we must remember that the vast majority of the time our children return to us safe and sound.
Dave: had you not let Mikey go at all I would have said you were overprotective and doing him an injustice. But you made sure that everything possible was done to ensure his safety and let it take its course. The worry is normal as long as it does not interfere with living a normal life. I think you have done well and it should get easier with each success.

Any time we had a Code Adam in JCPenney, I seemed to be the only one looking for the kid. We had the mall play area right outside our store, so that was the first place I looked.
