Seriously - step back and take an honest look. It's at least 5 of us saying the same thing now, and it's got nothing to do with politics, it's got to do with your Jr. High-level tone and your pointless sniping. I said earlier you probably would not step back and take an honest look, and so far you've proven me right.

We've been down this road over and over. Same reactions, same behavior. Efficies (is that a word) are wrong pretty much in all situations. There's nothing clever or funny in using this form of "art" as a statement. It's wrong for Palin as much as Obama in my opinion. I think people have expressed that quite clearly here and all over the news. Are there lesser degrees and reason for outrage depending on the person, you betcha. Not sure how a sane logical person can't see that but then again...we have this thread.

The Mormons and fundamentalists paying millions of dollars to take rights away from 10% of California? The GOP members using their official positions to stop hundreds of thousands of eligible voters from voting? The economy that's in the toilet because of years of government corruption? If you'd like to discuss more important issues, we can always talk about tasteless Halloween displays in West Hollywood some more.

But this is a first -- a thread where there is pretty much universal agreement on the larger point (hanging in effigy = BAD), undone by your behavior. Brilliant!

But that point was brought out by others just a week or so ago-deny it all you want-but that is exactly why so many members don't tread in WE. And as for you accusing me of slinging-you sell yourself waaaaaay too short!

And I say "lynching" an Obama exemplifies free expression as well since he is a political figure.

So it's not a threat to all woman or encouraging violence against women it's an anti McCain/Palin display. We all agree it's horrible. So then there is a question about the lack of an outcry over this because IF it had been Obama it would be so much worse (apparently said by someone on first thread - but not dlkozy) - apparently the IF person didn't realize there was already an effigy. But because the one of Obama (and again the second one found today) were taken down immediately - BECAUSE they were on Public Property so easy to remove.. So even though everyone agreed with dlkozy about how bad it is that someone thought it was funny to hang Palin and burn McCain... Somehow it's much worse than the two effigys of Obama (no sign of Biden in them) because she is a woman? Is that correct?? This is just crazy dlkozy - Since you say you read and know what's going on, I will guess you know that two white teens were planning to kill a bunch of black people and then attempt to kill Obama. And at many McCain rallies they have been chanting Bomb Obama... If there are death threats or people saying they are truely fearful of McCain/Palin I haven't seen of heard it... Maybe I just missed it. But the same cannot be said the other way. While the McCain/Palin display is disgusting it is no worse than those of Obama - The only difference is where it's displayed. If the Obama effigy was on private property it would still be there too.
Originally Posted By dlkozy My complaint which I have said over and over is that the outrage of the Palin effigy was non-existent (when I originally wrote my first post). THAT'S the difference. No one would call O's effigy an art form-but that's what they called Palin's. There were no news stories on TV with people laughing at O's effigy-they had people lauging at Palin's. The outrage and lack there of (for Palin's effigy) do not compare. This topic was about the effigy-not death threats, or other news (horrible yes, but not on topic here-but start one-might be interesting). >>>" Since you say you read and know what's going on, I will guess you know that two white teens were planning to kill a bunch of black people and then attempt to kill Obama.
