They done it time and time again and I think as much as the 'regular' fans hate it, it obviously works! Not agreeing with it, but when you visit the park once or twice a year versus weekly, you just don't like at it on the same level. It's just kind of like, "Wow, Pirates stuff everywhere!! Cooool." (Incidentally, this kind of works on DCA as well ;D) As for the over selling of this overbranding and marketing, its when THOSE people start to get sick of it when they have gone to far.
