If it is outside, it can live peacefully, but if it comes into my house, it is fair game. I've been pleasantly surprised how few house bugs we've had to deal with on the west coast. We had our share of ants, silverfish and an occasional mouse in our last house in Virginia. Don't miss any of them!

If it's a fleeting thing, like ToT, lol, it doesn't really bother me at all - just don't give me time to think of all the ways I could fall to my death and I'm A-OK. LOL. I didn't really think I was THAT afraid of heights (even though I joked pretty hard about the SunWheel of Death at DCA last year), but when we went to that haunted lighthouse in St. Augustine this year I could not bring myself to walk all the way around without clinging to the wall! LOL! Walking up there was no problem even though the stairs were grated so you could see through them and its an open circular stairway so you could look straight down from top to bottom but that didn't bother me. But once I was invited to walk outside where there was only a single, thin little metal rail between me, misstep and certain death, that changed. LOL.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I know it was meant as an enticement to another regular poster but it was more than I could ignore.

Instead I just buck up and tough it out. I won't let my fears take importance over taking my kids on a plane. Also, I don't want my fears to be passed along to them. I don't think they even know that I have this all out phobia of flying, because we fly somewhat often together.
