Have you ever had an unwanted pregnancy? I chose to go forward with my unwanted pregnancy 15 years ago (and my son is mentally ill and extremely abusive to us all). I would NEVER force anyone, especially my daughter, to go forth with a pregnancy if she wanted to have an abortion. I think it would be extremely cruel and I think it would be just as damaging, possibly even more damaging than an abortion would be.

Gee, was that the most tactful way you could ask that question? I doubt it.

I wouldn't say that I wish I had aborted him "when I had my chance". There are days when I really wonder if I made the right choice. My thoughts aren't always about my own pain. Sometimes it breaks my heart to have given birth to such an unhappy, miserable person. Adoption wouldn't have solved his mental illness. Hate me all you want, but when he's calling me a stupid whore or a fat slut because I asked him to take out the garbage or when he's throwing the coffee table across the room cos I told him it was time for him to go to bed, or telling how much he hopes I die during my surgery next month, I do question my choice. I wonder if he'll ever be happy or if he'll end up in prison because he hurt someone or if he'll be one of those crazy homeless people you see wandering around, I really wonder if I made the right decision. I guess that makes me unethical and selfish.

My feeling is some unhappy people may have to make real choices on their happiness. Stop blaming the someone else. You have to make the choice even if it means kicking the kid out of the house.

Mele: It may seem interesting to regret it, but the past is the past. You have to make choices for today.

You look at abortion as murder. I don't. I find your little skit here absurd, but you likely find my view on things alarming, so we're even. I do not feel under ANY circumstances that a parent has a right to force their child to carry a baby. To me, THAT is severe child abuse.

There a lot of things your force a child to do. That's why they are children.

The reason more kids have babies is the LACK of parental involvement.

Well, if you'd force your child to have an unwanted pregnancy, get ready for the rest of your life you couldn't possibly imagine.
