If you ask me though...sex outside of wedlock is more adventurous.

I saw a poll recently that showed that something like 20% of high school girls believed that you couldn't get pregnant on the "first time." There are definitely high school boys who will TELL them that. If we're concerned that they're not too bright, we should, well, enlighten them.

If you knew anything about the psychology of adolescents you'd know that their inability to predict the totality of the consequences of their actions (not just cognitively knowing they could get pregnant, but understanding the magnitude of that happening) then you wouldn't say that. It has nothing whatsoever to do with intelligence and more to do with incomplete brain development. Parental involvement is one way to lower the numbers of teen pregnancies, but teens are going to continue to have sex whether or not their parents are involved. There are conflicting studies regarding the efficacy of chastity vows, with some studies reporting that pledge takers are more likely to not delay their first intercourse and that when they do have sex they are less likely to use protection against pregnancy or STD's. Even the conflicting studies acknowledge that pledge takers are less likely to use protection against pregnancy or STD's if they reneg on their pledge of chastity. It's not about intelligence.
