Definitely impacts us out-of-towners who are unable to go more than once a year at best and can't make use of the AP option as a cost-saving measure, as berol commented. Ferret had a great suggestion. If anyone tries it, please let us know.

I know a lady at work (not one I'm fond of) that shared that she did that very thing on her last trip during Spring Break...bought 6-day hoppers for her family's 3-day trip, advertised on Craig's list, and found a family to buy the remaining days from her. Unethical and illegal. I liked her even less after that. It has also been mentioned that you can add a sixth or seventh day to your passes at the ticket booths for $5/day. If you get a CM that tells you no, try another window or ask for a lead/supervisor. It is something they can and will do for you. People are having success in upgrading that way. It sounds like they will re-print your tix and add your names to the passes to try and prevent the selling aspect, which should not be an issue as you're not working a scam anyway...just wanting to spend more time (and money) in the parks. Good luck! ºoº

Yeah, that never happens. ;-) There's a long thread about this over on DISBoards and it sounds like they had been allowing the upgrades to a 6-day for a couple of months (and as recently as last week) and now are being told nothing longer than a 5-day. <a href="http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2963761" target="_blank">http://www.disboards.com/showt...=2963761</a> There's a comment over on MousePlanet where an upgrade was granted last week...and at no charge. A little pixie dust in action. <a href="http://micechat.com/forums/disneyland-resort/172532-6-day-park-hopper-my-experience.html" target="_blank">http://micechat.com/forums/dis...nce.html</a> From what others are reporting, if you are denied, try another ticket kiosk...even one across the esplanade. Be sure to ask for a lead or supervisor, as the front line CM's answer will likely be no. It really is a shame, because it's a bad move on Disney's part to get rid of this length of passes. There's clearly a demand for the longer park hoppers (not a huge demand, but it should not be taken away as an option). This move by Disney will just push people that would ordinarily stay 6 or 7 days to spend that money elsewhere in the area for those days. It's crazy to expect guests are going to buy additional 1 or 2 day tickets to supplement their length of stay. The other answer from Disney (aside from purchasing additional 1-day tix) seems to be to purchase an annual pass. The price jump from a 5-day to a Deluxe AP is more than buying a one day ticket...and blockout days come into play. That leads one to a Premium, which is even higher. Not a viable option. Good luck to those wanting to upgrade.

One way to "fight" this is to make all tickets no more than 5-day passes(though I do agree that there should be longer options for folks willing to buy them via Disney Travel). Maybe next summer....

I assumed this was to prevent anyone else from using the ticket. I would suggest that maybe they start asking people for ID to confirm they are the same ticket holder after maybe the 3rd visit. This would be better than taking away the 6 day pass for us honest guests who want some quality time in the park.

The incremental costs per day were so small by then, it was worth it - so you could pop in for a show, or a parade, or a meal (thinking Blue Bayou or Carthay Circle) - I think that they are shooting themselves in the corporate foot by not having those passes anymore.

Especially since the price differential for the extra days wasn't that much when longer tickets were available, they may have calculated that the lost revenue will be small compared to what they gain from not having longer tickets leak through the resale channel. Also, if resale is indeed the issue, I wonder how long it will be before Anaheim gets the fingerprint readers that Florida has. That would put a stop to resale and allow them to bring back longer tickets. Also, I'm familiar with a situation where someone booked a 5-night stay for this coming November back in February. At the time, the offer was for 5 nights and 6-day hoppers. If you try to book the same thing now (or even 6 or 7 nights), they only offer you a 5-day hopper. But, this existing reservation still shows a 6-day hopper when looked up online. I suppose they have to do this, as the package has already been paid for.

Especially now that APs no longer include a photo on them, it would make a lot of sense for them to switch over. On the other hand, they just paid a lot of money to install brand new turnstyles at DCA's new front entrance, so I doubt we'll see them convert for a while. And it would be really fun to watch all the Californians squirm when they have to give part of their identity to "the man"!
