Although it's frowned upon, I like to park at the Contemporary and take the 5 minute walk to MK. I only do it for a few hours, not all day.

(I haven't been to WDW enough to quit asking dumb questions-sorry.)

Well, kinda, sorta! MK does have it's own parking lot, labeled as such. You still have to take the monorail or ferry to the actual park but I always considered the monorail and ferry to be a part of MK. Epcot has it's own parking area, as does Disney MGM and Animal Kingdom. You can access all the parks either by monorail (Epcot) or bus for the rest of the parks without moving your car out of MK's parking lot.

I usually use either Epcot's lot or MK lot if I am going to either one of those two because I just determine where I will be at the end of the day and park my car closest to that. Then I park hop between the two. I find that using my car to get to the other parks is just plain more convenient then trying to time alternate transportation to work with my schedule.

The parking lot is NOT attached to the MK's main entrance but next to the TTC. However, that is the intended parking lot for guests going to the MK. You park, take the parking tram (or walk) to TTC, and from TTC, you either take the monorail or Ferry Boat to get to the MK.

You can always plan a breakfast at the Poly, park there, and then take the monorail from there to MK... on your return trip from MK there is hardly any lines to the resorts from MK ... a nice option that we've been using for years...
