While we all would prefer a totally brand new Tomorrowland, and a ride that circles the land in the same fashion the Peoplemover did ... it appears the most the co. is going to do is restoration to the '67 "framework". Which is the best the land ever had. Not to mention Disney's re-using existing infrastructures (Country Bear Jamboree>Winnie the Pooh, Circle-Vision>Buzz, '59 Subs> '07 Subs, ETC.) I think the final word was "Either we tear down the whole track and have nothing for quite a long time - if ever!" .. or a new version of the '67 Peoplemover, that can be up fairly soon." So what would you choose Tang? Nothing? Because I'm sure that was the only other option. You know that track is not capable of handling anything beyond the 6mph speed of the '67 Peoplemover. A 40 year old track (30, through the Space Mt. complex). No way! We all have been through this discussion before. The way I see this ...the positives far outway the negatives. I don't think the costs are so astronomical that they would not tend to a duty that is long overdue. And by your estimates ... lets look at the Monorail: Another Tomorrowland transit system that is even older than the Peoplemover .. should have been removed years ago .. and just let people walk or take a smelly propane gas tram. But unlike the Peoplemover that gained no more than a painted stripe in 1987 ... the Monorail has been reinvented with new trains in it's whopping 47 year history .. with a Mark VII design on it's way. If only the Peoplemover had the same fate with multiple new designs throughout the years .... perhaps their would be less cynicism toward this attraction that was lost way before it's time.

They all look pretty boring, dull, lackluster, and lack kinetics. Hong Kong Disneyland Tomorrowland is the worst! Lets keep our fingers crossed ... and see what new interesting design they can come up with for DL Anaheim's Tomorrowland. I have a lot of faith ...... and it seems were getting closer and closer to learning new details. And Tang .... you seemed to have repeated numerous times ... an exact duplicate of the '67 design would come back. Where in the heck are you getting such crazy ideas? Have no faith in a new design that could atleast intrigue your senses?

I'm sure Disney can come up with a new vehicle concept that might fit in more with the current color and exterior themes of Tomorrowland - so why not bring the PM back? At the end of the day, for all anybody knows outside of the halls of the Disney management castle, they might decide to bring it back "just because" it seems like a nice thing to do.

I included in my argument the opinion that the PeopleMover could come back, if it included some new special effects and Pixar Characters - the same way the Subs and Buzz got approved. That's the only way I see the ride coming back - because with the cartoon character tie-in, the ride will be able to generate more gate clicks and store revenue. A PeopleMover ride with no characters has no chance to generate any revenue - let alone pay for itself. That's why the old one was closed. And if you're asking me if I would like to see another character laden attraction in Disneyland, then the obvious answer is no. >Since new and spectacular attractions >carry a price tag of hundreds of >millions, would not an expenditure of >tens of millions make sense if it >yielded a high-capacity family ride? Not if the tens of millions spent on a new PeopleMover meant that much less for the next big project down the road. I'd rather they spent all the money on a bigger project - something original and new.

I know TL is supposed to be a look at the world of the near future but the whole concept lost its romantic appeal after the space-age era of the 60's when everything was designed to look futuristic from automobiles to toasters to coffee shops. Today's design aesthetics gear much more towards the practical and convenient. We are living in a world that really only cares about today. Why care about the future? It's coming whether we dream about it or not. But if Tomorrowland was themed to the 50's and 60's romantic view of the future I think it would capture the sense of wonder and fantasy about the future that no longer exists today. And maybe it will inspire people to get excited about the future as past generations did. I'm not saying that TL '67 should come back in its entirety. I think the place should be a blend of googie space-age architecture and design and cutting edge technology. Bring back the Peoplemover but in a radically redesigned technologically amazing form utilizing the RR track already in place. Shorten the track a little. Maybe even make the cars themselves smaller. I would love to see a Tomorrowland look like "a world on the move" again.

Again, just more rumor, but I remember a lot of people talking about this back when he first got settled in and started making some master planning for the parks.

For the most part, I still feel that way. I was disappointed when they brought back Electrical Parade to DCA, for the record, "DISNEYLAND'S Main Street Electrical Parade " is one of my all time favorite DL shows, I have many fond sentimental memories attached to MSEP, I have pictures of it hanging in my office, I attended "lights out" and bought my commemorative bulb, etc etc, you'd think as a fan that I'd be happy to see it come back? Actually no, I thought it was cheap and shallow, but I did watch it, I took one of my god daughters and explained how I it used to be a fave, I enjoyed watching it, but I lost some of my excitement a few years ago after they dragged it back. I cant explain it. However, after years of thinking about Tomarrowland and the fate of the PM track, I am now in favor of seeing one of my all time favorite attractions return. Had you asked me 5 years ago I probably would be defending Tangaroa's opinion right now, but I have changed my opinion. I would now be in favor of some sort of People Mover attraction in TL. I must admit, late sixties early seventies "World on the Move" is my most favorite ever era of the park, and I give into my fondness for that era and would like to see something similar to what once was.
