It's kind of like sitting down to a good meal, I don't only want to enjoy the meal, I want to know how it was prepared so that I can learn things from that and maybe my cooking will get a little bit better too.

Lisann22, not from me. I probably closer to the deep end than what I should be but I still put limits on just how much I want to know. I'm fascinated by just about anything that has to do with the park but at the same time I don't need to know all the minute technical details and you're right, there is a time and a place for everything. Sometimes people forget that one of the best parts of DL is discovering things for ourselves. I'm lucky enough to have best friends that share the same level of obsession with the park that I do but I also know that everyone has their own level of enjoyment. If I ever get much more obsessed than I am now, I would hope that my LP friends would give me a little reality check.

I don't mind getting my info when I'm curious or wanting to know more, but I do get very tired & annoyed to have it spoon fed to me when I'm not wanting that (an exception to that being SeanYoda of course). The reason I LOVE WDW so much is that I *CAN* go there once a year, and really relax and feel like I'm on vacation for the most part.. WDW is still magical for me, despite having friends that have worked there (or still do) Sometimes I don't want to know how things work or don't work or whatever.. I just want to be the tourist.

I am very grateful and LUCKY to have duel Annual Passes but my experience at DLR isn't the same anymore.. when we lived in the Bay Area we would go at least once a month.. when we moved down here it became work (which was an all new experience most of which was fun) but now it's that place I want to go and hang out with friends and not listen the intricate details. Sometimes I just want Mickey to be Mickey and not you know, 100 other things.

I *am* looking forward to hopefully riding Nemo Subs.. just you know, don't start talking to me about how the magic works.. let me enjoy the ride for a bit. ;P

I go to the Disneyland Resort about once a year, sometimes solo, for three or four days. I also have a great collection of vintage Disney memorabilia.
So if I bring this up to strangers in idle conversation, some of them think I am some kind of oddball.
I guess the point I am trying to make is that no matter what you do or say, there are going to be judgemental people who find some kind of fault in what you are doing.
What is scary is that some of them form their whole opinion of you based on these scant bits of information.

I also agree with DlandDug that perhaps passion is a better word than obsession to describe some Disney interests such as mine. Just about anything Disney interests me but I don't think I would call myself obsessed, but then I don't get hung up on words - it is just a word.

obsess: to haunt or excessively preoccupy the mind

passion: a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity

    LOL!!

Unfortunately, the IRS is a step ahead of us. If you get something of monetary value back in exchange for your "contribution" that part is not tax deductible. This is why parrochial school tuition is not tax deductible.

We are passionate about Disneyland and it's always fun to run into someone else who loves it as much as us. Fun to compare places to stay, thoughts on new rides, time of year to go and such.

However, I can't handle, like others have mentioned, those who feel the need to spout knowledge while on an attraction. We sat by a girl at Fantasmic one night who felt the need to yak on and on about everything. She was ruining everyones enjoyment of the show. I just don't get people like that but am too polite (or chicken) to ask them to zip their lip.

Family members have stopped making fun of our trips to DLR. We have always stopped with them with the amount of times they go to Tahoe, Hawaii, Las Vegas etc. Now they turn to us for help planning a trip to DLR :) We tell clients that we are going to LA :) They dont' blink an eye.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up for me.

I feel so fortunate that my adult children love the Parks. They are jealous that we get to go more often than they do. The grandchildren are following in the tradition. My other friends and family are very tolerant. The only people who really chide me over it are those who do not know me well. (And guess who they come to when they have a Disney related question?!?)
I actully know a lady at the gum who complains about *having* to take her children to Disneyland. That is something I don't get.
As has been said before and I quite agree; thank goodness everyone does not feel the same way. It would be even more crowded.
To each their own and this is one of mine. The other is Hawaii which gives me the same happy, warm and fuzzy feeling as Disneyland.

I never need a reason although I do like the excuse of taggging along when my kids take their kids. I mean, who's going to sit with the little ones while you go on the big rides? I have actually been told by my oldest that the next trip I cannot go:eek:( because they have never gone without me.

The woman then replied that wasn't she lucky that her mother was willing to take her to Disneyland so many times.
My daughter looked at her seriously and said, "It is my mom who really loves Disneyland and WE GO WITH HER. I want to go to Hawaii".
I count myself as someone who is passionate about Disneyland and my ears perk up whenever I hear someone say they are going to Disneyland because I too want to pass on any information that would make their trip a more enjoyable experience.
I don't know why but I am always so disappointed when someone does not enjoy their trip to Disneyland!
I don't think I will ever tire of Disneyland but I am going for 13 days this vacation to test that theory.
I will do anything for reseearch!
I know what you mean about people spouting during shows, attractions etc.
I don't recall it ever happening at Disneyland but I may have blocked it out.
However, we have a fireworks event locally every year and we always seem to be stuck by the person who wants to tell their friends everything they know about pyrotechnics during the show.
In my opinion, fireworks are enjoyable when you watch them in relative silence listening to the music, except for the oohs and ahhs. Talk before and talk after but no talking during the show!
Of course, I am too polite to say anything!
