I have a few friends and my sister who love it and we talk about it whenever we are together. So it works. I have the POTC 2 movie poster framed, two sets of Golden Ears, an iron Minnie, framed pictures of me on rides and in parks with fellow LP'ers, my Disney wedding photo, Ursula pins, framed autographed Shag prints, you get the idea. Why do people come into my office and say, "You are really going to hate me, but I hate Disneyland." Why do they think that I would hate them, and why would they even say something like that? I think it would be if I said back, "That's okay. I hate your hairstyle and your shoes don't match."

My kids never get sick of it and neither does my hubby.

Both types of rides will take you somewhere, but one will convince you you've gone far further. People who don't like Disneyland generally don't know what to appreciate about it.

I have been told that because I am an adult and love DL that I "clearly do not know the difference between fantasy and reality" and that I need counseling because of it. >>> Wow, I know what you mean. Sometimes I resent these comments (or is it resemble?). This reminds me of two situations: I know a woman that has lived in Orange County for years and years, and is proud of the fact that she's never been to DL. When she mentions it, she says it in a matter-of-fact way as if she's just stating a fact, but there's this smirk on her face that says that it's a point of pride for some reason and that she has no plans to change this. I can't imagine living in Orange County for many years and not having gone at least once unless you were actively making a point of not going. One of my co-workers has never been to any Disney park, and has small kids. Sometimes I don't appreciate how people that have never been really aren't in a position to understand what it's all about. They must be thinking of a plussed Six Flags or something. Knowing that I go to a Disney park often, he once asked me "So, do you go on the rides?" with a bit of an odd character in his voice. I'm not quite sure what he was thinking, but I answered "Of course." He then saw a picture of me and Mickey that I have in my office, and asked "So, was that at DL?" I said it was actually at TDL, and he noticed that the writing on the window in the background was in English, and was confused. I said "Main Street USA, baby!" (and yes I know it's not called that at TDL, but it's the same idea). Then I realized that for someone that's never been to a DL, they must not realize how much "celebrating Americana" is a part of all the MK parks.

Of course she hated it. What I want to know is how someone can grow to hate Disneyland when they’ve never been there?

They say to us why wouldnt you rent a condo on the beach and then just go to Disneyland for the day. Most condos have kitchens--I wont cook on my vacation. I do that 6 days a week. I also will wait to do laundry when I get home.To me its a personal choice. Someday my kids will grow up and move and then who will I play with? Now is the time to enjoy Pixie Dust and Haunted Mansions, next year we are going to the Islands and when we get back we will take our trip to DLR.I hope that it lives up to my expectations! After all I am a Disney fan.. HEE Hee!!

Most people who say they hate the Disney parks are thinking that they're a big ol' Six Flags kinda place. I've had more fun over the years taking coworkers there for the first time. These are guys who have mocked me mercilessly for my obsession. But every time it takes no longer than a couple of hours for them to say "OK, NOW I get it!"

And trust me, I've traveled alot. It still amazes me that some people just can't enjoy all the great things that Disneyland is...blows my mind man.
Originally Posted By pitapan16 People who don't like Disneyland generally don't know what to appreciate about it. Yeah that fact alone amazes me, for those who say they don't like Disneyland, to me thats just like saying you don't like people, landscaping, architecture, art, business, machinery, technology, thrill, fun, ideas, themeing, mystery, creativity, thinking, ideas, history, fanstasy, culture, shows, and enjoyment of good friends or family to accompanmy you. If a person can't enjoy this, I don't really know what they do enjoy.
