I wonder if Huntington Beach can step up to the plate to be the first? We'll see.

Sure they will. As long as each of the 1000 sent a check in for 30,000 after signing the petition.

Why the love for any scenic attraction? Quite apart from the reasons oc dean gave... it was relaxing, it was scenic, and due to the amazing capacity there was never a line.

Does any petition, alone, make or break a decision on anything in the world?

    No.

But what they do is help to "cement" an OVERALL consensus on an issue.

It's just one piece to the whole "collective".

I don't know if it means anything, but it is interesting that it was painted at some point.

The Peoplemover was a product of the late 20th Century. Not early. I hardly think people around the time of the St. Louis Worlds Fair in '04 or the time of the Stock Market crash in '29 were thinking of such things.

Besides ... there are only a few of the 1967 Peoplemover trains that still exist. And I hardly think Disney would ever go down the road of rebuilding the "Wedway" motorized-tire system, ... when so many advances have been in propulsion systems ... such as the linear induction technology introduced at WDW's Peoplemover in 1975.

Something more representative of today would be a people mover that after boarding could take you quickly and directly to any number of destinations: So you could board it near Splash Mountain and go directly to ToT in DCA without stopping at any intermediate stations.

You mean rotating tires embedded inside an elevated trackway? Wow, now THAT was some seriously advanced transporation technology.

A product of the LATE/SECOND HALF of the 20th Century.

Lets get our facts right. :~
