It was one of those original Nintendo games, especially in sports, and you could just tell by the graphics. But it was so new then and new to us, we just loved it.

Years later, some friends of mine introduced me to Blades of Steel. The graphics were improved from the other game, plus my favorite - you could pick fights. Oh man was that fun. Since then I've only played a few other NHL games around the mid or late 90s. Might have been EA Sports or something I forget, but they were fun. I remember being able to create a player and adding them to a team.

And it turns out our Uncle may have had some interest in hockey himself anyway. Little over 10 years ago, he called from Tennessee when he was living out there once. He said, "Oh btw we're getting a new hockey team out here. The Nashville Predators." He lives up North in Fresno. I'll have to give him a call sometime. He may be a Sharks fan too.

When I went to the Ducks/Sharks game in Anaheim, all us Sharks fans were pretty loud in the Pond when they scored, and when they won. :)

    It was sweet.

And hockey not the Nation's Sport..looks like Hockey hijacked the Football thread.

I noticed that too ;) My best friend once explained to me a lot about hockey, especially how they fight. And I noticed how when they score goals, it isn't always just skate up and slap it in. The goalie is always there ready and blocks the puck in so many ways. And then when you least expect it - GOAL!!!! Then some noise goes off in the arena? That's one difference I kinda favor hockey over basketball, I mean can still get into basketball, but the scoring can be too frequent. In hockey, it can be really fun to watch as they ice skate back and forth across the rink, and minutes will go by with scoring attempts, but not always a lot of scoring. Kinda keeps you on the edge or your seat.

Now football, I'm learning as long as I have some reason to root for one of the teams, I'll even watch college football just because I appreciate how it's played. It's fun to watch. So both are still pretty good I think :)

Yes. I think of hockey more like soccer than basketball. I'm not a fan of basketball, couldn't care less, especially when a basketball game is on when I should be watching Friends reruns or something else. :)

football..only on weekends. I can deal with that, because there's usually nothing on anyway.

And DAR... I've had weekends like that..but with Halo.

Well, sure. Isn't hockey pretty much just modified soccer on ice?

I don't doubt this. They skate very fast. I was at a pre-All-Star-break event in San Jose, and they had speed races around the rink. I think Patrick Marleau made it all the way around in about 10 seconds (give or take, it was pretty fast). I think he even set a Sharks record.

Those pucks hit the back of the net pretty fast too.

Huge fave of mine when my Dad and best friend would go to the arcades years ago. I think we were playing at Chuck E. Cheese one time, and Chuck E. Cheese came over to my side to help me out! I think cause my Dad had some help on his side too. I just remembered that.

Ok back to the real sport.
