It did get me to thinking though...usually if a ride breaks down, they make you sit there for quite a while before they come to evacuate you. What's the practice for Mr. Toad? I can't imagine them making you sit in that sweltering room for an extended period of time. Do they shut off the heat?? And I sincerely hope that those who are in the Hell room get rescued first.

Honestly, ever since that incident I get a bit nervous when I ride Mr. Toad and hope that I don't get stuck in Hell!

When they came out a couple minutes later, they were both laughing, and their glasses had completely fogged up. They tried to get out of the car, but couldn't see a thing, so it was a generally humorous experience.

We were evacted from Splash last October. We also were on the final climb to the drop. I'd guess we stayed there for 10-15ish minutes before they came to get us. The "worst" part was Brer Rabbit saying the same thing over and over and over and over. We clapped when they turned the sound off :) You would kinda think that in Mr. Toads case that they could at least turn the heat off.

A couple seconds after that, they made an announcement that they were experiencing techincal difficulities and to remain seated. About 4 or 5 times through the soundtrack loop later, we were moving again. Then we stopped halfway up the lift hill, before the Brer Rabbit scene, where there's the really dramatic choral music. Normally, this wouldn't be that big of a deal, but the family in front of me had two little kids (I'd guess about 4 and 5) who were starting to get a little uncomfortable. Luckily, after a couple more minutes, we were going again, and they loved the drop, but it was just a very interesting place to get stopped (though I'm a big fan of the music on the lift hill).

Splash at WDW was kinda cool because we got to go backstage. We have also had to sit on Indy for a long time to wait for it to start going again a different time. I wonder how long they would let people stay until they decide they have to get everyone off the ride?

Some of us had to use a ladder while others were able to walk across to the hidden walkway & then down a long flight of stairs. It was fascinating to see it all but the wait was not fun. We were all poised for the big trip down. At DLR anything can happen which just adds more excitement to the place we know & love. ♥♥♥

Funny how people get edgy not knowing if they will be stuck there indefinitely. One girl fell off the ladder trying to exit but she was ok & got free passes to use later. Like I said, you never know exactly what kind of adventure is instore in Disneyland. It was all part of the exciting fun!

Makes me feel a little better about it.

Although I have to say, Hell definitely wasn't nearly as hot this time around as it was when I almost got stuck in there. It's weird how the temperature varies. Sometimes it's so hot that it fogs up my glasses, other times it's barely warm...

We're cruising along, we've looked at the goat and howled with the coyotes, it's been a great ride and we're almost at the end, you know when you go up a decent way, but when you come down it's not really a hill and it's anti-climatic. You know the one I'm talking about? And then it slowly turns to spin down to the end? Anyway, right as we pick up momentum and get over the (non) hill we come out right through a swarm of BEES!!! GAH! But in the same instant we were able to recognize what it was, we were gone because the train had moved through so quick. That of course didn't keep us from freaking out royally and slapping ourselves and each other to make sure none of the bees had stuck to us.

We of course informed a CM as soon as we got off and they immediately shut it down. Everyone looked at us like we had canceled Christmas. LOL it was kind of funny... only 'cause I had already got to ride. ;)

I love how they rescue you first if you get stuck in there, though. That's always been a fear of mine. Good to know.

I would guess that the procedure would probably be to have someone go up the ladder (or stairs or whatever it is that can access the boats), and carry the handicapped person down to safety. That's part of the reason that the wheelchair line moves so slowly on many attractions. It takes more time to evacate people who can't walk, so they have a limit to the number of non-walkers on an attraction at any point, in case they need to evacuate the attraction quickly.

For what it's worth, I noticed on PP in WDW that there were platforms every so often with stairs leading up to them. I would assume that there was enough backup power to take the boats to the next platform in case of a power outage, and then guests would step out of the boats and down a set of stairs. It looked like a pretty safe way to do it, but it definately detracted from the ride experience. They were painted black and mostly hidden in back corners, but they were still very easy to see and completely took you away from the attraction. Granted, their version is years behind the DL version, but I still noticed them having a very negative effect on the overall experince.
