And I visit all the parks. I like to have something special from each one, that highlights the differences. The way they are marketing them now tries to show how they are all the same, reinforcing stereotypes about the parks, and giving people a reason to not branch out and spend money at a park other than their usual destination.

Hey monorailblue, are you talking about the Mickey shaped backs for the pins? Because I saw a bag of them on sale at the Store Command store at the exit to Buzz.

Although i agree that the merchandise is too generic for any of the parks i doubt much impact will be done if people on these sites avoid buying. There are millions that visit the anaheim resort alone and many will eventually buy it.

One thing that i reccomend and will impact the decision makers more would be to write a letter of complain.

I know that one letter will not do much but if everyone in these sites avoids buying the merchandise and then make their voices heard by writing a letter, also writing a complain on the Disney site and even taking the short time to write a written complain of displeasure in both city hall and the customer relation centers of each park, it would make a bigger impact. This will eventually show management that this globalization that Jay rasulo is pushing hard on all the resorts is not beneficial for the resorts.

Jay rasulo and Al Weiss are counting on the success of this campaign to keep a foothold in their positions as president and chairmen of parks and resorts.

Just a few years back Disney merchandising had to do a u-turn and stray away a bit from not specific merchandise that had several resort packaging. Luckily the Disneyland resort saw a rebound and an increase of merchandise sales because of the park specific Disneyland anniversary items.

Notice how they also started to introduce attraction specific merchandise because for a few years they had eliminated over the generic character merchandise that could be found in many department stores especially the Disney stores.

Like some have said, the Disneyland specific items with the "dreams" logo (which by the way gives emphasis to WDW) is not too bad. Problem is that a large amount of the merchandise that will be released will be mostly the generic Disney parks items that could be sold anywhere

Duty? It's not a job for me. I'm a consumer. And it's one person's opinion. It's not like they're stating the Truth Of The Universe. Some people like to waive the banner of "telling it like I see it" as some sort of badge of honor that they have the nerve and foresight to say something everyone else is afraid to say. Please. It's just an opinion. As they say, everyone has one.

Just goes to show us why Disney has stopped the AP activities they used to have. Why bother doing something for a group of people that are so quick to complain? Hell, APers even complain about too many other APers in the park. Get real!

On the other hand it is great for my pocket book. I fell hook-line-and-sinker for the 50th merchandise so this will be a nice reprieve. I can tell I won't even be tempted.

My favorite items of the past were, "Where the Magic Began" and, "Disneyland, an original." So I think it is obvious that generic, "Disneyland Parks" stuff is not going to appeal to me.

I saw the vinyl decal and thought if it was a few bucks Id grab it to replace mine that doesnt stick but 8 bucks for a 2 x 2 decal is a little much...

Why, because you'd faint dead away if you saw it and didn't know about it beforehand? I can certainly understand people liking to see the pictures, but I can't imagine why *anyone* would need to be "warned".

No, I would not faint dead away. But knowing what to expect will make it less of (for me) an unpleasant surprise.

I liked the Disneyland baseball hat, but that was it. It's the sort of logo I'd expect to see at the Cast Team Center Store.. I think folks that commented about it being corporte are right on.

Later it did occur to me if I ever to get sick of all my Disney tees, one might buy a couple of grey tees with "disney parks" logo and wear them at either park as a sort of "tourist uniform" (I hope I'm not insulting anyone by this comment) but yeah, it could in the end save a tourist a LOT of money by just purchasing a couple of the basic tees. Would I want to do something like that? Heck no! =P

I'm not really enthralled. The thing that really bugged me (and maybe this is good for Disney) is that we were drawn into conversation with a CM there who was really doing a bang-up job of pushing these shirts. Not wanting to say why what we really thought about them.. she was like "aren't these nice?? they're the new logos for next year.. we'll be getting a lot more stock in after the 50th.. but these are the first.. the 2007 merchandise will be here before you know it!" *super big disney CM grin*

Kudos to CM for being friendly and outgoing and omg to Disney Corporate.. that anyone would have to push something so eep!
