After having to put up with THAT awful monstrosity all my life, nothing they've done to Cinderella's Castle in Japan seems so bad. I LIKE the new paint job there!

It may have always been a darker color than MK's, but from your pictures, it looks a lot darker now than it was before. Is that right? Maybe its just that I don't care for how dark it looks with the brighter/pinker paint job the top half got. It may just be the pics, but the light gray borders around the tiny windows stand out like never before on the bottom half of the castle. Do you have some older pics to show of what it looked like before so we can compare the old to the new look? I can only find some so-so ones on google.

It may not translate well on photos, but when seen in person and upclose, it brings the bricked lower portion of the castle a very detailed and granite-like look. I like it a lot.

Also... the colors on the rest of the castle came off much whiter on those pictures than in real life as well... as the castle overall looks darker and "tanner" when seen in person. But that is just an observation.

I couldn't see the bottom of it, but the top just had a more mature and inspireing look than the usual opressive grey that has been in TDL and MK for so long.

I never liked Sleeping Beauty Castle when it was white & grey either. It looked much more like a fairytale castle when they added the pink. Now with TDL's paint job, it helps to make Cinderella Castle a bit more fairytale too.

It looked real at first glance, but if you looked at it a little longer, you saw that it was pink, hinting that there was something more than meets the eye. I know it was only because there was terrible maintenence for a long time and it had been a very long time since it had been painted, but it really worked for me. But then again, I liked the second version of the Imagination ride better than the current one, so what do I know?

The TDL castle is painted exactly like the porcelain Dept. 56 version I have on my village Christmas display.
