You can go around the perimeter of the park from land-to-land directly. But you can't get to Main Street except from the hub. There's no connect from Tomorrowland or Adventureland to Main Street except thru the hub area.

Here's a question -- does the parade in Tokyo go down their "Main Street" or not? I really don't know. I'm guessing not, partially because their Main Street is covered over. And if it doesn't where does it start and end?

As I recall, Walt's original plan had everyone going back to the hub whenever they wanted to change lands. Early on it became apparent that other, more direct paths would be necessasry to reduce congestion at the hub.>> Walt purposely designed the Park to have only one entrance, and he purposely imposed the connect-through-the-hub structure. So, yes, I do think he is partly responsisble for the congestion and crowd control issues that arise because of these design features. (Would I CHANGE the single-entrance and hub features if I could? No. Even recalling the panic I've felt upon being trapped in New Orleans Square/Adventureland literally unable to move, and also remembering other unpleasant experiences related to Parades and entertainment, I wouldn't add another entrance. But I think it's fair to point out that the lack of one -- by Walt's design -- causes problems.) I'm not even saying Walt SHOULD have anticipated the problems they cause(d). I think it's incumbent upon those who have to work with this structure to come up with successful solutions. Adding the inter-Land connectors is an example. Widening Main Street in subsequent Parks is another. I agree that those in charge now in Florida need to make changes -- whether it involves physical structure or scheduling or whatever -- to fix the situations that have been described here.

However, I do not understand why it is so difficult to redesign the backsides of Main Street at the MK and DL and have DLP's Arcades added to those parks... Not sure about DL but at the MK, there is enough space back there for that. >>Walt purposely designed the Park to have only one entrance, and he purposely imposed the connect-through-the-hub structure. If not, then yes, we could partially place blame.. but it's so much more fun to blame the current management team, is it not??

I wrote that Walt is "responsible for" a design that creates major logistical challenges. But, okay, okay, I can use it. Even though they're operating with factors that are out of their control (including Park design), I "blame" current management for scheduling revenue-producing events in a way that produces an unacceptable unpleasantness in the experience of day guests.
