I've noticed in the past that when the lighting in Pirates is worked on, it will be bright for awhile, but, over time it dims, just as light bulbs or tubes at home do. Personally, I like the brighter lighting in the bayou, which allows you to see the scenery. Usually, it's so dark, I can't see much of anything. A few years ago after one of the rehabs, the bayou was bathed in a nice blue light that was quite lovely & magical and allowed you to see the details. Then, after awhile, it was no longer lit that way. Someone mentioned that it is flourescent lighting in there covered with gels, which would make sense, as flourescents definitely dim over time, as I've noticed at work. As to eyes adjusting to the dark, awhile back I was listening to a discussion on night driving on an informational program and the vision expert stated that it takes our eyes about 30 minutes to really fully adjust when going from a brightly lit situation to a dark one. So, even though we may spend a little time in dimmer lighting in the inside queues for Pirates or other attractions before boarding the ride, our eyes have only had time to adjust slightly. I think it would be great if the Imagineers could devise a way to light some of the darker attractions like Pirates and Haunted Mansion just a bit brighter in the daytime to compensate for that, then, adjust it in the evening when it is not needed. My frustration in going on some of the rides in the daytime is that I can't see some of the stuff that should be seen because the lighting is too dim.
