Maybe the cannon can be controlled by a foot pedal or something.

Good point. It will be strange to walk by Rivers of America and see big cannonball splashes coming up. It will certainly add to the chaos of the crowds. That area just keeps getting busier and busier, and this will add to that. Basically, ever since Fantasmic the riverfront has never been the same. I still love the area, but I do think it's just going to be noiser and busier than it ever has been...oh well.

I'm sure they will be considered, but the old fort rifles operated for decades and, because of one injury, were removed.

And you could have a device in the canoes that would signal the devices to not work when in the area.

As for extending hours, very unlikely, maybe earlier in the morning, but they need the time to switch over to the Fantasmic! show, and plus, there isn't much lighting on the island for night time use.

To keep it fairly realistic and also safe, they have a rope-like fuse sticking out of the back end. When you pull on the fuse, it acts like a trigger and makes the sound effect. I'm sure something similar will be worked out for the island, as they already have the design built and operating in a different park.

I think the best way to do this would be some sort of wireless signal. They could even use a radio signal, it really doesn't need to be that high tech to make it work.

The first CM on the island makes a big deal about the guest aiming the cannon at the NOS rooftops. He tells the guest "aim for that red chimney over there..." and directs the crowd's attention to that chimney and tells everyone to watch. The guest fires the cannon, a little smoke comes out, and 3 seconds later, the CM in NOS makes the chinmey "collapse."

Don't believe everything that Disney tells you. They still like to treat Disney fans like gullible clods who will buy anything. Just like they want us to believe that POTC will not turn into the Jack Sparrow Ride, little by little. Yeah right.

    Pirates begin ransacking the island
    by David Koenig

"Of course, that didn't mean they changed their plans to completely remodel the island into a pirate-themed playground, complete with performances by Jack Sparrow, the Bilge Rats, and the Boot Strappers, interactive special effects, act-like-a-pirate lessons, and a full-scale stunt show on the Fantasmic stage, visible throughout Frontierland as well as New Orleans Square. For now, the caves, bridges and treehouse will remain, but will be redecorated and laden with piratey special effects and activities.

"Forget the ((river pirate)) theme that has been mentioned by the park," said one insider. "It will be a ((Pirates of the Caribbean Island.)) The paper (O.C. Register, which published Disney's literary justification for the change) ***swallowed Disney's smokescreen hook, line and sinker.***"

    ----------------------------

Believe this. Disney is very "Happy" by treating Disney fans like "Dopey".

You're one of those clods who doesn't believe man landed on the moon, right?
