Or anything else there are in constant view of ? There are kids who get scared in an elevator / on an escalator / outside whatever -- where does it end ? Every ride was not meant to be geared to a 2 year old either.

Of course you wouldn't want them coming right up to the passenger boats and trying to climb in or something ;-) I think Pirates, even in it's current iteration can be a little scary for young kids. There is the skeleton steering the wheel at the begining and the creepy voice. I took my little sister on the ride during this years MNSSHP for the first time and she was a little nervous to begin with.

Also, I agree with taking Alien out...I hate that scene. Transform the hallway where Sigourney Weaver is standing into the hallway for the Tantiv IV and make it so Stormtroopers are attacking the Correllian Corvette at the beginning of Star Wars: Episode IV, A New Hope. Now THAT would be sweet! Maybe show Vader coming through the doors with the dead soldiers all around, and have R2 and C3PO on the side where the second Alien is talking about getting in the escape pod. That would be worth seeing!

If they were to put a little more effort into it, the MK version of Pirates could be every bit as exciting as the DL version, just shorter. If they were to put in one "WOW!!!" effect that DL DOESN'T have, it would get people to want to visit BOTH versions!

And leave Alien alone. If your child is afraid I'm sorry, but it's a good scene in homage to a true classic film. Horror/Sci-Fi is a big seller and sadly many of the films of the genre are terrible, but Alien is a master piece of suspense and thrills. They can always cover their eyes too. I used to do that when the Alien movie trailer in the line would play as a child and I'd do it for many parts of the Haunted Mansion as a child - just because some people get scared by it should'nt ruin it for everyone else. It's a shame about Alien Encounter which was a truly fun and innovative attraction. People need to realize responsibility should come before change. I'll get off my soap box now And to get back on topic: Update Pirates but don't overhaul it please!
