Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Men Tell No Tales

I like the animation on Capt. Salazar's hair...very etherial. Pretty cool.

 

I like that effect too. It looks like the hair is floating in the water. Maybe the pirates are transdimensional or something like that.

 

So what are these pirates suppose to be? Are they ghosts? We've had skeletons and fish pirates.

 

One of those pirates only had half a head, so I'm guessing ghost.

 

The stupidity of Disney Germany continues!

Over here the movie will be called Salazar's Revenge. If they need to give the movie a new name, then they should at lest have chosen a German title.

I'm now seeing it mentioned in the press as Salazar's Revenge so I'm thinking this must be a Europe wide change. Still a terrible name though...

 

It's indeed a terrible name. I really like Dead Men Tell No Tales and wish they would use it over here too.

I agree. There's something about them that just doesn't seem quite right

I'm also concerned about the couple that looks suspiciously like a replacement of Will & Elizabeth. I get that they're no longer part of the series (for a variety of reasons), so why try to replace them with a pair that's so similar? You can always tell a franchise is at the bottom of the barrel when they start recasting roles or copying characters

 

I have seen Orlando Bloom in the trailers, so Will is still around because he's the new Davy Jones. (Please correct me if I'm wrong because it has been a while since I last saw the movies) They probably are trying to introduce a new couple in an attempt to keep the movies going.

 

Yes, Will Turner is still around and will be part of POTC5 and he is indeed the new Davy Jones.

The young guy who looks a lot like Orlando Bloom, so maybe he is his son that was introduces at the end of POTC3.

I really hope POTC5 does well, but it might be a box office flop, at least in the eyes of Disney.

I had completely forgotten that Will becomes Davy Jones. Gosh, it's been a long time since I've seen these movies!

I used to watch them quite frequently, since they were pretty fun; I imagine I still have most of the first one memorized. But ever since the 4th one came out, I don't think I've re-watched any of them. It sort of ruined the fun for me (which was honestly fading by the end of the 3rd, but it still had redeeming elements)

 

I'm thinking I might need to dust off my PotC collection and give them another watch before the new one comes out to remind me of everything that went on. I'm with you @FerretAfros I really liked the first couple of movies, but lost interest after the third. Maybe this new movie will liven the series back up again.

 

I think like the last movie, this one doesn't have anything to do with the first three.

 

Maybe the new movie will be based on the new 'Pirates of the Caribbean' ride at Shanghai Disneyland.

If so, it will have officially come full circle.

 

I think there'll have to be some call backs for no other reason than Will's involvement.

I'm getting more and more excited about the final adventure, because the trailer looks very promising. I really think this will be a good movie that brings the whole franchise to a good ending.

The music at the end of the trailer is amazing, hopefully it's in the movie too.
