I love the Pixar shorts (my favorite is probably "For the Birds," which I just watched again), and I loved Up, so it may become the first movie in quite a while I actually pay to see twice in the theatre.

Many things impressed me about Up, but one of them was the way they shifted between buddy comedy, adventure yarn, poignant love story, goofy slapstick, almost Euro-Fellini symbolist-drama, and back again so seamlessly and effectively, without seeming disjointed.

I don't know if it's my favorite Pixar, but it's right up there, and after I see it again and catch some of what I missed, it might be.

Truly an excellent film. Might be a bit too intense for the wee ones. Other than that, we double-dated with DD16 and her current beau and all 4 of us were touched (we girls cried) and laughed and were thoroughly entertained. Thank you, Pixar! xoxo

I'm just bummed that I got stuck seeing it at Cinemark instead of being smart enough to get tickets ahead of time to see it at the Alamo Drafthouse, where I'm CERTAIN the preshow was fabulous.

More great film-making from Pixar! WOO HOO! Can't wait fro Toy Story 3 next June! :D

And the short, Partly Cloudy, was great too! So cute!!

What was a little different about this one was that instead of just a single person, it was a relationship that changed and grew up. One of my biggest regrets for this film (at least after seeing it only once) was that it didn't resolve as nicely as the Carl & Ellie montage. Luckily, the sentiment of that montage really carried the story through the film and served as a motivation for all the action being taken. Very beautifully done.
