Yes, to all of the above! I grew up in the St. Louis area (IL side) and every time I visit family I have to go there. Also have to go to Lion's Choice.

    >>Amici's in the bay area is pretty good east coast type pizza.<<

Most emphatically yes! My guy and I loved eating here while he was working for the past 2 years in the Bay Area. We ate there at least once during the weeks I was out there with him last year. I especially like the slow-roasted garlic they can add to any pizza.

Oh and the more toppings on it the better, including feta, broccoli, asparagus, artichoke hearts, anchovies, bacon (strips preferred), and well pretty much whatever else you can stuff on it, onions red or normal I'm not fussy.

Instead of a marinara sauce, the pizza is topped with crushed San Marzano tomatoes, a little bit of sea salt, olive oil, and torn basil leaves. Only fresh mozzarella is used on them, preferably di Bufala. All Neapolitan pizzas are baked in woodfire ovens, so the crust gets blackened and blistered in spots. It's heaven, I tell ya. It's definitely a filling pizza, but I don't feel bloated after eating one like I do with deep dish.

There are only 20 pizzerias in the U.S. that are VPN-certified, two of which are in the Twin Cities metro area.

I really like deep dish every now and then, but most of the time I definately go for something in the middle of the road.

I don't like the cracker type thin crust we have here in CA. However, thin NY style crust is the bomb. Amici's does come close, just cooking it in a brick oven gives it that yummy taste, but the cheese & sauce are still "off" IMO.

FWIW, this is my favorite pizza joint of all time: http://www.marucaspizza.com/fr
    anchise.html You can get a 24" x 24" pizza for $22.

My favorite recent discovery is Tina's Pizza Burritos. It's stuff like this that makes me love America.
