Well, tomatoes are not native to the region either - they were brought back from the New World. So, should we exclude any Italian food that uses tomatoes because it uses an ingredient not native to the region? I realize it's not a direct comparison since tomatoes are now grown in Italy, but my point is still valid.

Also, isn't pizza generally served whole and eaten with knife and fork in Italy? If so, then isn't any variant that comes in slices and eaten by hand not authentic?

I read that somewhere; maybe on chowhound.com. But I also read that the pizza is no longer the same.

That's one of the things that really bugs me: when a restaurant takes my favorite menu item and either changes it so that it's just not the same, or removes it entirely. Sometimes I joke to myself that they just couldn't stand to have something that good on the menu for too long.

Since I'm going to be in Las Vegas next week, I'm going to make it a point to make it to each of Round Table Pizza and In-N-Out Burger for my west-coast food fix.

I ate there tonight. The food was pretty good. The outside of the building has an awning like the old Hillsdale Mall used to have over their food court places, which I never realized until tonight.

The service was really bad. The place was quite busy. Kind of a tradition around here, I guess.

I can't speak to whether to pizza is changed or not. It's hand thrown, lots of cheese, flavorful sauce, crispy crust. The place is nicely decorated.

I prefer to make my own, which I guess counts as "hand tossed" and is on the thick side. Canadian bacon and pineapple are delicious on pizza.

I've never liked Amici's and I've never eaten at San Remo's in all the years I've lived here.

For creative pizza combos, Applewood pizza wins hands down: <a href="http://www.applewoodpizza.com/pages/menu2.html" target="_blank">http://www.applewoodpizza.com/

I'm going to give a link to a place I used to eat at when I lived in NJ. Anyway, this ia a typical menu for any pizza joint in NJ. It's not a restaurant, however they do have a few tables to sit at, it's more a take out place. Note the difference, not just in pizzas, but the other things that are offered for those in your party who don't care for pizza. <a href="http://www.allmenus.com/menus/27066/Attilio" target="_blank">http://www.allmenus.com/menus/

I so miss places like that.

Oh & sicilian pizza, it's not just thick crust, but it's a square pizza with little cheese & fresh tomato sauce. Very yummy!

For a ten year old, that was tramatic!

Oh! Hello. I never ate at San Remo's before the other day.

I love Amici's. Their crust is great. If you like thicker crust though, that's not going to do it for you.

I had Applewood Pizza a while back...but it was not my favorite, as I'm not a big fan of strange pizza combos. The wife is, though, and it causes bitter and violent arguments here. Well, not really, but she likes those sorts of things more than me. I have simple tastes...in food.

I know people who love it, though. It's also kind of a pain to travel to Menlo Park for pizza. Might as well be in Guam.

Which is a funny attitude for me to have developed living here. When I lived in LA, I would drive 35 miles for a chili dog. Now, you can't get me to Redwood City unless there's a pretty darned good reason.

Anyway, funny that we're so close. If you ever see a somewhat tall guy walking around, that's probably me. Walk up and say hi. We'll go get some pizza.
