Why? Now the update ?question? Little Mermaid is previewed as a 2-Disc Special Edition, not a Platinum Release, on the Chicken Little DVD previews. I know that there has been a Little Mermaid DVD (Single Disc), but there also was a Lady & the Tramp single DVD release. Does anybody know if Little Mermaid will be promoted as a Platinum Release?

"Sleeping Beauty" was not technically part of the Platinum rotation, though many consider it one since it was so well presented. Personally, I think they held back so they could re-release it with the Platinum name down the road.

Why?> "Sleeping Beauty" was planned to be the 1st Platinum Edition disc released, according to what my managers told me years ago when I worked at The Disney Store. I hated that it was replaced by another film instead, but of course loved that it got the bells and whistles platinum treatment!

You know, maybe it doesn't have to be a Princess Movie; afterall, the 2000 movie was Fantasia 2000 - although it wasn't called a Platinum Edition. Snow White started the Princess 2-Disc DVD Special (Platinum) Edition Ball rolling... Maybe a New Princess? Maybe a Fairies Movie w/ Tinkerbell?
