I hope that my daughter doesn't have to take her clothes off to make a living but I wouldn't think she was trash if she did.

It *might* be true less now than in the past, but a vast majority of women who are strippers, prostitutes, or even women who have many sexual partners have had abuse in their past and/or come from broken homes, etc. There is usually a very good reason why they find themselves in the places they do. I'd rather not call them trash but wonder why they felt no other options.

Just about none of the women who pose for Playboy do it to make a living. Part of a career choice for some, a thrill for others, but almost never as the goal.

Posing for Playboy is pretty removed from dancing, and *very* far removed from prostitution. I am sure women who have been in playboy would be offended to be thought of in the same way.

He knows NO ONE who dances there who was abused and trust me he would find out. He actually dates some women there and they are very classy. Just as you say about the gay stereotypes i.e. gay men are more apt to be child molesters (you are obviously right) also strippers were abused is an obvious stereotype. This stuff is where I live as the NO. 1 porn store on cape is owned by a friend of mine who I've known for decades. You name it about sex, I know it, and most "dancers" were NOT abused. Just an fyi.

This frees up their time for studying; they only need to work on weekends or whatever, instead of trying to hold a full-time job and a full class schedule.

I don't believe that posing for Playboy is on the same par as dancing or prostituting but there are LOTS of people who do. I was just trying to point that out, and also to point out that instead of disgust and judgement, maybe there are reasons for the choices all these women make other than just being "trash".

If I were a woman, I don't know if I would have that self confidence. I love the dancers as they are usually educated, intelligent, and of course hot.

I mean they make it a career choice in the sense that the exposure (no pun intended) or the money will help them get where they want to go. The goal for these women isn't to be a nude model; it's usually something else.

There are thousands, if not millions of women who would love to be in Playboy simply to be able to look as gorgeous as the women in the magazine.

Real funny, joe. Only women can be sluts, huh?

I agree ... it seems a bit of a leap in career/interests! I understand that she's trying to get her profile out there, and making an awful lot of money doing it ... it's just surprising for someone who used to dress up as a Disney princess. I don't think I judge people who pose nude, it just seems weird to think the next time you get a photo with Cinderella that she could be a Playmate of the Year in waiting.

This is exactly what I was trying to say NJFIREGUY. Passing judgement and making generalizations about a woman for a single action (Such as posing in Playboy) is lower than the action itself. That's just IMHO.

And I agree with trekkerus on his points as well. If you are deemed attractive enough for Playboy, chances are pretty darn good you have other modeling projects as well. These women get a magazine or two and that's it. The money is not as good as people think unless you're a centerfold. Most women look at it as a springboard for modeling and acting, regardless of how unrealistic that may seem....

I've seen Playboy, and it's hard for me to call a picture of a woman with her legs spread and a come hither look on her face art, especially when she has large fake breasts. There's nothing wrong with the human body and nudity, but I just think our society is too sexualized to begin with. I'm tired of seeing women (and teenagers) walking around with their thongs hanging out the back of their pants or their breasts hanging out. It's possible to have confidence and take pride in yourself without putting yourself on display. If people think psoing nude in a skin magazine is the pinnacle of self confidence, they couldn't be more wrong. It's actually a cry for attention and validation.
