Please don't tell me you were at HKDL this afternoon/evening ... or that you'll be at HKG tomorrow or dining at BLT Wednesday ... or that you'll be in Tokyo say next week.

Nope - Causeway Bay today. I'm still here in the old colony for the rest of this week. Absolutely no idea where I'll be next week! I'm like the Littlest Hobo - I go where I'm needed! :)))

And I should be in bed by now......

One of the great mysteries of Disney Fandom is how a company, which so gregariously and obnoxiously panders to customers' emotional connections to their product (think DVC, current and past marketing campaigns/celebrations, D23, retro-merchandising, etc.) is so quick to squelch that connection (like a giant, booted foot slamming down on a defenseless insect in a gut-splattering flash of force) whenever it encroaches on the Holy of Holies otherwise known as "business sense."

thanks Lee- for some reason these are those who refuse to acknowledge this.

I'm not even criticizing those who caused issues- it was the placement that was bad IMHO also.

It shows that they only go for what is immediately profitable to them. And risk free. If the can find a way to bring the AC back under those circumstances, they prolly will.

My point isn't who got it closed, it's that the drinking argument is a bogus one when every day you can find a bunch of drunk idiots walking around Epcot. Hell, you can find a bunch of drunk idiots who came from Epcot in the Magic Kingdom. I had plenty of them on my boats every night.

Make WS dry! It's scarring the little ones at the Magic Kingdom that are waiting in a 3 hour line to meet a princess!

however you choose to ignore other first hand experiences contrary to your own. I am sure there were some nights much less of an issue than others..but I can tell you from years of experience also weekends were not good. If 25% of the time it was a bad experience that is too much for where it is - IMHO

Most people don't. But most people like to. I'm 22 years old. When a park closes at 9(or 5 if you're talking about DAK), I want to go somewhere where I can have fun with people my own age and have a few drinks.

Right now there's basically 0 places to do that at Disney that also include that "Disney" touch.

There are likely to be a few other changes as well down at the West End. I’m hearing that House of Blues may be planning to leave Disney property entirely in the future, in favor of setting themselves up off-site in a new location. If this happens, look for Harley Davidson to move into the former HOB digs. Meanwhile the Mouse has plans in the works for the nearby Virgin Megastore building that would see it redesigned as a cluster of smaller high-end shops. I’m also being told that Cirque is currently planning a whole new show to eventually replace the long running La Nouba show in 2013, around the same time as the rest of Hyperion Wharf, taking advantage of it as the right time to relaunch themselves along with the rest of Downtown Disney."

totally understandable at 22 ( I have kids older than you) - it changes as you get older...however when I was 22 and wanted to drink, I did not want to be in a place where there were kids/families all around.

However, that's just anecdotal. Obviously, Disney is neglecting a demographic by not having a nightlife district. It's irrelevant to me, but the need is there. Unfortunately Disney is failing to provide for the young adults demographic (unless they're part of a family, the lowest common denominator).

To be honest, I'm excited by Hyperion Wharf. It may in fact just be a mall with a nice facade and theme, but we're surely more likely to visit a glorified mall than a nightclub complex, and I guess that's what Disney is aiming for. I love the theme (even if it is redundant), and I'm excited that it will have some nice features and open up the waterfront. The fact that Disney is leasing to third parties doesn't really bother me. If it was Disney-operated merchandise, we'd probably see the same crap that you could find at any shop at WDW. If it was a Disney-operated food service location, who is to say it would be better than a third party?

Who cares? Epcot is an AWESOME place to drink. I really, in all honesty, don't care who's around when I do it. If I'm having fun and minding my own business, they shouldn't care either.

I don't think it's a big concern, atleast, I'm not worried, and I'm a T-Total'er myself. Sell the booze. Maybe the place will stay open for more than a year.
