My point is that it's a spectrum we're looking at, and you're viewing everything in black and white. Just like people who say "all cops are racist criminals" are wrong (and in fairness, NOBODY said that here), you going to the other extreme is equally wrong.

How can you not care about that? Of course, it is a totally reasonable thing for me to conclude that because you did not post your outrage, you are a horrible human being that otherwise thinks people should die. It's foolproof logic, according to you.

Originally Posted By ecdc >>why is there more outrage when a cop shoots a criminal not an innocent person then when a criminal kills some little girl? Since when did we value the lives of criminals over everyone else?<< We don't. We never did. I don't know how many times and how many different ways (or why I keep trying) to say this: You. Have. Invented. This. Idea. In. Your. Head. Seriously, try and think through this logically. Do you honestly, truly think people walk around going "I don't care that a little girl was murdered but I sure am bummed out that a criminal got gunned down." You honestly think that's what your fellow Americans, whether black, white, liberal, or conservative think? Because if you do, you have some *serious* mental issues you might want to get checked out. That tells me you have an unhealthy, even dangerous need to demonize other human beings. No, I don't post on here every time someone dies tragically. That's in part because in this country people die tragically every day. It's awful, but there it is. You don't post on here every time someone dies tragically either, so this shouldn't be a mystery to you. Why do people post about cops killing unarmed black men? Because cops are representatives of the state charged with protecting citizens and questions are going to be raised when they kill citizens instead of protecting them. Maybe that shooting was necessary; but with an unarmed victim, there's naturally going to be scrutiny. Why you continue to insist this is an either/or proposition is beyond me. Why you are so incapable of understanding that I can be saddened (whether I post it here or not) when a cop dies and I can be upset when a cop kills an unarmed person is beyond me. That people respond differently to different injustices should not shock you. That you demand everyone feel exactly the same way you do about tragedies is weird and bizarre and immature. But...and I'm sure you'll just think I'm being a dick...I'm totally serious: if you really do think your fellow citizens do not care when other human beings die, you have some serious issues you need to get some help for.

There's more outrage when cops do it for a number of reasons. When the people we entrust to keep us safe kill people, that will bring outrage. When it appears to be because of race, even more outrage. None of this means we value the lives of cops less.
