Charlie McCarthy I am not, so I don't need to be spoken for...I am saying we would have been better off with 20K still there, or an updated version like DL got...yes!
And for what we have to show for 11+ years, I would rather have had them leave the grass/ trees and flowers and some benches...

And 20 years is a heck of a long time...for anything. I am now 50 years old, I don't want to have to lose an e-ticket when I'm in my 30's and not get a replacement until I retire. I think that is unacceptable, yes, how demanding of me, to expect to have Fantasyland full of attractions. Mind you not an addition, just not large losses like that.

I thought that because I wasn't able to figure out why they would have gone to all that expense at this time, if they didn't have something big planned. How foolish I was! I reported in my WDW based DLR trip report my feeling about it after seeing what was happening at Disneyland. So I don't have to retype the whole thing I will copy it below for those that might not have seen it before. Sadly, I really feel this way about it now. Here it is!

Another thought that came to me immediately upon viewing the refurbishment of the submarine basin for the new “Finding Nemo†ride would be why WDW was motivated to get rid of the 20K lagoon and show building when it did. I can hear the executives sitting in the board room saying, “Man if we don’t get rid of that place right now the WDW people will never stop screaming for us to do the same thing in Floridaâ€. Finally, it explains why after all those years now was picked to illuminate it and put in a playground. Out of sight…Out of mind! As an east coaster I now feel shortchanged.

Of course, this is just MHO.

It's business and I recongize the strategy, regardless of what business you are in. Turns out I was right about the quality of what we got and I am confident I am also right about the fact that this will be it for a long long time, if not forever there. There are no plans for more attractions on that land. The money that renovated AE could have built a dark ride if they had wanted to, or close to it. Fnuny how DL was able to save their 'leaking ships with low capacity yada yada yada somehow..
It alll started with lies put out about how it was don temporarily for rehab...and for some there maybe initially that was the plan. But when they kept telling this fib 3 years later I smelled a rat ( not a Mouse).

This attraction was killed off for one reason, because they could and it saved money. Someone counted up the number of attractions at MK and decided that was enough....the playground is just there like a 'wind break' to take away from the open 'field'. And since there was no money allotted, look what we got.

I wish I would have been wrong, but it just added up to well, and I have seen in it business for a long time...the deception, then the false hopes, ( all the while the beancounters officially burying any hope for redemption) --then make people hate what is left behing so badly ( the lagoon rotting away) that ANYTHING will look better. Then something that would have been an abomination 11 years ago, looks like an improvement.

I wish I would have been wrong, but I called this one very early

So if we could get nothing else I, personally, would have preferred the empty lagoon to the playground.

You know what, hard to build a strong case against that........welcome to curmudgeon land

It would be a shocker if PooLand was a bigger draw than the rides around it.

It's strange now that they are big enough to enjoy all the rides, a playground opens in the MK.
