I think IF IT'S BUILT it will result in a great rift in the DVC.

I think a LOT of people will off load their current inventory, that DVC could suck back up as a greatly discounted rate using ROFR clause...I'll say why they would do that in a sec.

Now the people who off load their current holdings will buy new holdings in the Contempo...the first DVC add-on at a premium and on the Monorail line.

People like me, who want more points at my current home resort of Boardwalk will be able to get em and DVC makes a margin in between the repurchase price and the price they sell them to me.

Not only that, but having the DVC Contempo will certainly escalate sales overall to new members.

The only problem is I cannot understand why the DVC is going to build at AKL, AND at Contempo...I would think that many people (like me most certainly) would hold out for the Contempo, even if it takes 3 or 4 years to complete.

In all honesty, for the life of me, I don't really understand WHAT is going to happen in the asy last 10 or 15 years of these ownerships. At some point, it must become more expensive to maintain current inventory, than the dues will cover for said property.

SO, I guess the secret is that the DVC is safe and financially secure as long as it continues to grow and sell.

Anyone please weigh in on this.

my take is that the people who stay at Contempo have different tastes than those who stay at AKL. I only stayed at Contempo once pre' DVC - yet stayed at Poly 5 -6 times and GF the 3 -4. I was never enamored with the inside design at Contempo - very 'cold' feeling to me.

As for me I would add points at AKL long before I would add the Contempo - although I am more than happy with OKW ( and Vero) --

And unless they do something dramatic ( like another Monorail line) - adding all those people to the already overworked Monorail system will not only overload it for those at the Contempo, but for Poly and GF as well. Just my opinion.

Maybe a seperate bus line for the DVC from AKL would be appealing? not so crowded that you miss busses and have to wait another 20 or so mins.

lets face it AKL is cool but not cool enough to stay in at night. and with the hassle of a bus i wouldnt spend the money to have a DVC site there unless there were better transport to places like Downtown, boardwalk, and such.

What I would really like to know is how close are we now to some of the original DVC members getting to the end of their membership and what happens when it does end?

2042 is the first xpiration date so I am not sure I understand where this was headed. If it was meant when the day comes some of the original members stop going ( age)- wellmost likely will not stop anyway, and I am an original member and at just over 50 I see no end in sight of trips. And when I do stop- the membership is deedable property so children will be inheriting memberships from parents

VB, I had no idea that the original contracts didn't end until then...I was thinking it was a little bit before that time...But when the end does come is this going to mean there is going to be another cycle of trying to resell all of these initial sales? If so, they are going to need more CM's along with willing buyers....

yep, 2042 is the first expiration - so there is plenty of time. I think a lot has to do with how the buildings themselves hold up. There already are rumblings about ' extensions' to the 2042 dates maybe being sold - but really seems way to soon for commitment to that. I will be 87 in 2042 - so the extension would be mostly for my kids ( and future grandkids) if it made sense.

Hard to predict if there will be another cycle in 2042 - who would have thought in 1955 that there would be a DVC offering in the early 90's - to put the timeline in perspective. Likely there will be something different...

I'd rather rely on the bus system than drive around. Not having to drive is part of my vacation.

I've had one really bad experience with the buses (waiting for about 45 minutes at Animal Kingdom to go back to the hotel), but other than that all my waits have been minimal.
