I really wanted to see the remake because I loved the first one so much... Then the reviews came out and I came to my senses. ;-)

I had the misfortune of seeing that version when it aired. I, however, was amused at the fact that a bomb could capsize a ship. Unfortunately I did not see that part...

I have the original on DVD (as well as Towering Inferno, when they both recently came out), and I'll have to get around to watching the new one.

the TV one DID have some vary boreing thing. but then again. I thought they did some very interesting twists that gave it its own marit. what triped me most in that on. was the ship! I have never seen a more un sea worthy thing as that on ! if you look at it good. it looks like almost a flat tug boat whith ALL TOP! it would have been a easy target for ANY high wave! WAY to much top compared to a stable bottom!
I thought the acting to be VERY shalow! I mostly take movies on their own mert. but I simply didnt FEEL ! for the actors as they were not dramatic in their feelings. LOL and they didnt get Dirty and torn and such as much. there just was NO acting that set any of them as indearing.

the new movie I thought was very good acting. Good avects. nice LOVELY ship! the PRO actors did great! the secondary actors left no Deapth of what they are about to me. I didnt know WHO I was SOPOSE to get into. I felt it was set up as TOo predictable as to Russel dieing.. I thought that WHOLE set up sucked! It was nothing more then the WHOLE play up of a CHEEP atempt at imatation the POWERFUL parts of the movie ARMAGEDDON.= Dad finds lover kids.( only THESE HAD NO TRNDER LOVE ) the little helpless girl whiney stuff. and the dad repacing the son inlaw bit! and her whine cry bit... BUT the directors forgot to IN DEAR that plot to us as was done SO SO WELL! in ARMAGEDDON. other than that. I liked all in new one. not that I would BUY it.

and the CLASIC First one.. STILL serpasses all others simply by a CAST of VERY STRONG vettern actors and a great casting by them!.. the ACTING set it apart still comes out #1
