I am so sorry for your loss.

To this day, I can still hear her meow when I pull into my driveway.

So sorry for your loss, vbdad. The last cat I had managed to contract feline panleukemia. It's hard to say goodbye to such loving companions.

trailsend -- if you have told me I would miss her so much when we got her 15+ years ago I would have told you that you were crazy. I grew up with dogs ( big dogs -- German Shepard & Alaskan Malamute) - and considered myself a dog person.

I cannot believe how attached I got to this cat- as did the whole family - now I am a 'cat' person for sure

Well, that didn't last long. And honestly, we never had a litter box. She was like a dog. Every time she wanted out, she would go and sit at the door and look up until someone opened it! We never had her declawed so she enjoyed the cat life. Man did I love that cat! Brought all her "trophies" right to the front door!!

    I love cats!

    vbdad55, sorry for your loss. I have a 11 1/2yr. old cat and he's my 4th kid.
I know that he's getting up there in years, I just don't like to think about it.

With our cat you could tell her which toy to go get and she would search the house over until she found it and brought it back to you --- people were amazed as their opinions of catd were you could ask for anything you wanted, but the cat would do whatever they pleased anyway. Not true here.

Vbdad, I know how you feel, hugs to you. I grew up with a beautiful cat, Katie, she used to sleep on my bed every night, I got married at 19 ( she stayed at my mum and dad's house where she had always lived)and almost straight after she developed cancer. That was 17 years ago. But I havent considered having a pet since. I just couldnt go through that again. Kieran would love a cat, (I would too...shhhh ) but I just couldnt.

Sorry to go off topic but I am in the same club as others here who have had to go through the death of an elderly cat. I lost my Tom (age 16 years) at the end of August and I am still not over it. When his brother Jerry died at age 15 I think having Tom got me through it but then whet Tom went I did not have any other kitty companion to soothe me. It's rough.
