If it is just going to be a buffet, a t-shirt, and a movie, then I will have to pass. Anyone ?

I think it was around 2:00 a.m. that they turned off the music. There were people there that were charged for stuff that they did not get, one was a leather jacket for $300 I think but they didn't get it. I have forgot a lot of the other stuff that happened, they said all the bad memories would get blacked out!

I think that I'm going to have to take a pass on it then. Doesn't sound nearly as special as the Holiday Haunted Mansion event.

We went to the most recent Pirates event, 7-9-03, the one they held when the first movie came out and had a tremendous time! We heard about the previous Pirates event and were glad we hadn't gone to that one.

The event for the first movie included a sit-down meal in the Blue Bayou, with incredible presentations and food!! Lots of interaction with "characters" during the meal - pirates, a literal pirate band (live music), the daughter of a wealthy plantation owner who's betrothed to the heir of the "pea-can" fortune, etc. She was abducted by the pirates and returned later, as a pirate queen! It was so much fun.

We had a ride on the ride (nothing different that time), then were escorted by CMs over to the AMC, for our panel discussion with Imagineers, before the movie. It was so much fun, sitting in an audience of people who had the same interest in Pirates and we all laughed at the inside jokes together.

Lots of merchandise to order, tho we didn't order much. We received pirate hats, some dubloons and such at the dinner, huge bucket of popcorn and drink of our choice (non-alcoholic, of course!) at the movie, etc.

Also, the parting gift was very cool - a compass in a hinged special presentation box, with the date and event logo on it. Just like Jack's in the movie, the compass never points North!!

The dessert at dinner was amazing! There was a pirate treasure chest, made out of chocolate with a white chocolate fondant treasure map that was edible.

I'm hoping for something along the lines of this, at the very least, for the steep ticket price, since the least expensive ticket is more than twice the price of the last one.

I really hope we don't have to walk around to various stations, like for the Indy or 50th event thing. I prefer to be seated and served at a "special" event!

I'll be curious to see if they post any additional info on the website.

OK, I think this is incredibly stupid for them to do. They mention the "special event queue" and in tiny letters at the bottom, they say separate theme park admission is required, but maybe it's just me that's not bright enough to figure out that you don't get into the park *at all* if you don't have other means in. I figured it meant you could enter the park between 9pm and 11pm, since that's when the queue is available. I think the information should be a bit clearer and more explicit that if you can't get into the park on your own, you can't even use the special queue.

Glad we weren't planning on going anyway, even though we have APs.

Oh, and by the way, merchandise information is available. Here's the link: <a href="http://www.register123.com/event/profile/web/index.cfm?PKwebID=0x452405c6c&varPage=activity" target="_blank">http://www.register123.com/eve
nt/profile/web/index.cfm?PKwebID=0x452405c6c&varPage=activity</a>". I don't recall merchandise info being released prior to registration for other events.

Whatever it is, it certainly isn't the great SIT-DOWN dinner they SERVED us in the Blue Bayou, at the last Pirates event, for the original movie, back in 2003!! I really don't like to pay a lot of money, then FORAGE for my food!!

Thanks for posting the link to the merchandise, CS, I hadn't noticed it had been added yet. But the merchandise isn't anything to get excited about either! Dave Avanzino has an art piece in there that's only $10 more than his "land" pieces. Don't have the wall space to start collecting these things, so we'll pass. I'm really happy with the #2 of 5, limited edition Sleeping Beauty Castle of his, that we bought at the 50th event!!

This is starting to remind me of the Valentine's event a couple of years ago. You know, the one that started out with being a dinner event at the castle, then turned into a kiddie thing??!! At least we were able to buy one of Elisabeth Gomes amazing Aurora and her Prince limited edition pieces at Disneyana, without having gone to that event. I never heard of anyone who went to it.

We've been really anxious to go to another great event, after having gone to the 50th and the others we've done, but so far, this one sounds like one we'll be skipping too!!

Actually, no. Some Mediterranean restaurants do that too, and "tapas" aren't really all that different in concept to dim sum or even sushi (individual orders). It's actually the way I prefer to eat, and at one of the restaurants we like, we'll periodically go there and just order a number of things off the appetizer menu instead of just a regular meal. Same idea as tapas.

Tapas are originally from Spain. As the Spanish empire expanded, they were brought to the cuisines of Central and South America as well as the Philippines.

And I sure wasn't going to leave without the merchandise, and later, considering how much time I had already invested in line. Then it became a game to me of setting a record late night in the park!

Yeah, I remember them handing out free bottles of Coke, then handing out little bags of chocolate coins while we were waiting, . . . . ., and waiting , ..... and waiting, ......

Up until that point, that was the latest I had ever been in DL, and I too remember distinctly when the Main Street Music was turned off, completely changes the mood of that area!

Since I had walked to DL from my hotel on Katella, they drove me back to my hotel! 1st and only time I ever got a ride to my hotel, from Main Street USA in front of the Walt Disney Story Building on Main Street!

We should all wear our Pirate Key (the event gift) as a medal of honor at one of our future meets! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
that would be so funny to see all us veteran Pirates with our "Medals of Honor" HAHAHAHAHAHA!

As for this 3rd Pirate Event, They have completely and totally lost it! WAY TOO $$$$$$,

and a midnight showing of the movie! How many people are going to be asleep an hour into the movie, or skip the movie entirely because of the start time. For the price their asking you should be allowed to the Premier showing inside DL, 2 Weeks before!
